First Let me give you just a little bit of background information.

If you are reading this you probably either live in Fort Lauderdale yourself or have family members or friends who do, so you probably know more about this city than I do. But here’s what I know; It’s a city located in Florida and is known for its boating canals, stunning beaches, and lively arts scene. It’s often referred to as the "Venice of America," and is a hub for tourists looking to soak up the sun or take a cruise. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is the primary airport for travellers heading to the Caribbean, including Kingston, Jamaica.

Now, about Kingston. Kingston is the bustling capital of Jamaica. It is a city that is always busy, brimming with culture, history, and energy. It's the hub of our island, where you can experience everything from reggae music and delicious Jamaican food to historic sites like the Bob Marley Museum and the Devon House.

Since we have that covered, here are some frequently asked questions that anyone travelling from Fort Lauderdale to Kingston to Jamaica will have.

3. What are the travel requirements for flying from Fort Lauderdale to Kingston?

So if you are planning to travel from Fort Lauderdale to Kingston, what you will need first and foremost is a passport. This is a must-have. It is always advised to also ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your planned return date. Did you know that there was a time when you didn’t need a passport to visit Jamaica? Read more about it in this article.

4. What is the best time to travel to Kingston?

Firstly, you can visit Kingston at any time of the year. Regardless of when you visit, unless it's during a holiday or major event, your experience will be almost the same. However, the absolute best time to visit is during the dry season, for obvious reasons like being able to explore more. The dry season runs from November to mid-December and from January to April. The weather is warm and sunny, making it perfect for exploring the city and surrounding areas. However, if you prefer fewer crowds and don’t mind occasional rain showers, the offseason (May to October) can offer lower prices on flights and accommodations.

5. How much does a flight from Fort Lauderdale to Kingston cost?

Flight prices fluctuate. It’s a fact and it is no different for flights coming from Fort Lauderdale to Kingston. You will find that flight costs vary depending on the time of year, the airline, and how far in advance you book. No, you don't. It's not mandatory but it is recommended that you get it. Travel insurance can cover unexpected events such as flight cancellations, lost luggage, or medical emergencies while you're abroad.

Yes, it is. Kingston for the most part is safe, yes there are a few areas that are prone to violence, but tourists never venture into those areas. As a matter of fact, neither do most locals. Most tourists visiting Kingston stay in well-frequented places like New Kingston, Liguanea, and Port Royal, which are generally safe during the day and night if you take normal precautions.
