Whether you choose to climb the waterfalls, zipline over them, discover their hidden caves or just simply stand beneath its cool cascading waters is completely up to you. Whichever you choose promises a thrilling experience. Not only will you find a stunning waterfall at the well-known Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios, but also a large number of pure natural pools. Additionally, there is a beach and hiking trails.
At Mayfield Falls in Westmoreland, there are not just magnificent waterfalls, but there are also underwater caverns. The cave at this location, which is around 5 feet long, is big enough for you to even swim through! In St. Elizabeth, on the South Coast, YS Falls is a collection of waterfalls that are close to the Black River. Family-friendly amenities include picnic tables placed in picturesque settings, a "Tarzan swing," a tropical garden, and lots of space to explore. There are many other waterfalls to explore as a matter of fact Jamaica has at least 48 discovered waterfalls so your options are not limited.
Dolphins are some of the most adorable and friendly animals, and that’s why we all love them. Here in Jamaica, you don’t just get the opportunity to see them perform for you, but you get a chance to swim with them, dance with them and you might even get a kiss. This is possible at any of the three Dolphin Cove locations, Ocho Rios, Runaway Bay and Montego Bay.
Discover majestic marine life and coral reefs by going snorkelling in Jamaica. Snorkelling in Jamaica is one of the most loved water activities to do in Jamaica. Montego Bay and Negril are two of the most popular resort towns on the island and are known to have spectacular locations for going snorkelling.
As with snorkelling, scuba diving is another favourite among visitors You will be happy to know that the entire island has many fantastic scuba diving spots such as the Throne Room in Negril, the Widowmaker's Cave in Montego Bay and SS Kathryn Wreck off the coast of Ocho Rios. There are over 100 dive sites in Jamaica but, be careful to do some research and choose a site based on your level of expertise. If you are an expert, you can choose solely based on what you prefer to see such as tropical fish, colourful corals, turtles or even nurse sharks.
Another fantastic aquatic activity to check out is deep sea fishing. A variety of fish, such as White marlin, Snailfish, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Barracuda, are among those you can expect to capture. The majority of the resorts in this area provide deep-sea fishing boat charters. Areas in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Negril, which are also our major tourist cities on the island, are excellent choices because they are good sites all year long on our east, north, and west coasts. A fishing trip can often run from a few hours to a whole day.
Do you enjoy the water but don’t necessarily prefer to get in the water? If yes, then bamboo rafting might be one of the most relaxing ways to do this. Metal wires are used to tie together long bamboo logs to create the raft. The Martha Brae, Rio Grande, White River, and Great River are the most well-liked locations for bamboo rafting. Your raft's captain promises you a calm ascent of the river. Most raft captains also serve as tour guides, and they will provide a bit of local history, flora and fauna, and special characteristics of the particular river.
One of the most fun, exciting and thrilling ways to explore our beautiful island of Jamaica is by going on a Catamaran cruise. Catamaran cruises can be booked for any time of day but have you heard of how magical the sunsets are in Jamaica? I highly recommend you view it for yourself and there is no better way to see it than actually being on the water, as close as you can get.
Not only are our bodies of water relaxing and fun, they also have amazing healing and therapeutic capabilities. With radioactive levels and mineral deposition significantly beyond those of other well-known hot springs throughout the globe, these natural wonders are renowned as being among the best in the world. The majority, if not all, come from wells buried far below the earth's surface; some additionally pass through limestone caverns and/or across rocks rich in minerals before ending up in visitor-accessible pools. The Bath Mineral Fountain in St. Thomas and Blue Lagoon in Portland are 2 of the most popular.
So, what are the best water activities to do in Jamaica? It's hard to choose but these 8 are some of the best. Jamaica's water activities are nothing short of fantastic. With so many options, it's impossible to get bored. You can spend your days swimming, snorkelling, diving, rafting, or sailing – or simply lounging on a white, sandy beach. Whatever you choose to do, we guarantee that you will fall in love with the natural beauty of Jamaica's waters.
