Planning a trip to Jamaica? Well,โ€ฆ things have changed. Just a bit.

If you have travelled to our island before, you are more than likely accustomed to filling out a declaration form while onboard.

However, as of September 1st, 2023, visitors are required to fill out the form  online.

The New C5 Customs Form

  • What exactly is the C5 form?
  • Is it new?
  • Who should complete it?
  • What is it all about?
  • Where can the form be found?
  • And how early should it be completed prior to travel?

New! Take a piece of Jamaica with you๐Ÿ’ƒ!

Savour the memories!  Now you can get your authentic Jamaican souvenir items, as well as traditional Jamaican herbs, spices and housewares on our popular e-store. Click Here to learn more.

And, if you ever need a trustworthy and knowledgeable local guide, consider booking a private tour with us!

Anyone entering the island, whether they are visiting or a resident of Jamaica, must complete the Immigration/Customs (C5) Form. The paper document currently given to airline passengers will be replaced by the online form.

Together with the Jamaica Customs Agency and the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA), the online form was fully implemented.

The online form, according to PICA CEO Andrew Wynter, is a digitized version of the original paper document. Additionally, he said that via the online form, travelers will now be able to submit that application up to 30 days before their departure to Jamaica, instead of waiting to get onboard.

In order to allow travelers to complete the forms, airport operators have agreed to offer Wi-Fi services there.  If there is a pause or no Wi-Fi is available for any reason, then you will either have to complete the paper form or they will help you complete the procedure electronically using another method.

You can even choose to fill out the form once you land in Jamaica before you are processed by an immigration officer.

Filling out the Form:

You will find that filling out the form will be quite straightforward and easy, especially if you have travelled to Jamaica before and are already accustomed to the previously used paper forms.

Upon entering the site you will be required to enter your email address before you can move forward. A code will be sent to your email, which you will then copy and paste into the section that will pop up asking for your code. Once that is completed you can start filling out the form.

  1. Personal Information: You will be required to fill out your personal information such as your name, date of birth, gender and how many family members are with you.
  2. Contact Information and Address: This section will require you to enter your passport information, address, where you intend to stay while in Jamaica, flight details and other information such as your purpose for visiting, how long you intend on staying, how much luggage you have with you and whether or not you have shipped any items by air or sea.
  3. I Am Bringing: As you can guess this section wants to know what you are taking with you. Items are grouped and you just need to select yes or no. Hereโ€™s what you will see:
  4. Fruits, plants, cut flowers, vegetables, soil, meat, live animals and organisms, honey, wildlife products, plant material, food, animal products or live birds.
  5. Pharmaceuticals, chemicals, narcotics and other illicit drugs or biological substances
  6. Illicit drugs or narcotics.
  7. Radioactive or nuclear substances.
  8. Arms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, toy guns or other weapons
  9. I am / we are carrying currency or monetary instruments over U$$10,000 or equivalent
  10. I have goods exceeding the value of my (our) personal duty-free allowance
  11. I have gifts or articles for resale.
  12. Spouse & Children Under Age 18 Accompanying You: Here you will be required to fill out the name, age and relationship of your spouse or children under 18 years old who are travelling with you.
  13. Goods Declaration: The easiest way to avoid any potential hassle with customs is to declare your items, and that is what the last section of the form asks you to do. You are required to enter a description of the item, the cost for the item and the country it was purchased in. All passengers who are at least 18 years old are eligible for a US$500 duty-free allowance on things that are not being purchased in bulk or for resale.

Additionally, crew personnel and passengers have the right to duty-free imports: 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, 230 grams of tobacco, 1 litre each of wine and spirits, 170 ml each of perfumed spirits, and 340 ml each of toilet water.

Once you have completed and submitted the form, an email will be sent to you to confirm that your application was successful.
