Turmeric has been around forever, but over the past couple of years, it has been making quite a buzz as many people have discovered its many uses and benefits. However, in Jamaica, turmeric has been a household commodity for a pretty long time. How Do You Make Turmeric Tea?

Turmeric tea is made by boiling or seeping fresh grounded, grated or powdered turmeric in boiling or hot water. The taste may not be quite favourable for many, but additions such as lemon, orange, ginger and cinnamon add additional benefits and improve the taste. It is best sweetened with honey.

Should I Drink Turmeric Tea At Night Or In The Morning?

You can have your turmeric tea at any time you desire, right throughout the day. Some say it is extra soothing, almost therapeutic around bedtime.

How Much Turmeric Tea Should You Drink A Day?

Turmeric is still being highly studied, and as such, there is currently no set dosage requirements. But it is recommended that to start experiencing the benefits of turmeric, try consuming between 500 to 2500 mg per day.

What Happens To Your Body When You Drink Turmeric Tea?

Turmeric contains a very powerful antioxidant and several other properties such as zinc, potassium, vitamin b6, vitamin c, vitamin b3, calcium, manganese, iron and potassium. When you drink turmeric tea, you receive a dose of all these properties, which will provide you with some of the many health benefits listed above over time.

Can I Drink Turmeric Tea Every Day?

Yes, you absolutely can. Some persons have turmeric tea up to 3 times daily.

What Happens If You Drink Warm Turmeric Water Every Morning On Empty Stomach?

It is believed that if you consume warm turmeric-infused water every morning on an empty stomach for at least 7 days, you will notice the benefits of turmeric much faster, it will help with any inflammation, arthritic pain, digestive issues and much more.

Who Should Not Take Turmeric?

As with everything moderation is key, but based on your health conditions some things should be completely avoided. If you have any of these conditions, avoid drinking turmeric altogether or consult your doctor for dosage recommendations:

  • Gallbladder problems
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Diabetes
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disorder
  • Infertility
  • Iron deficiency
  • Liver disease
  • Heart arrhythmia
  • Pregnancy

How Long Does It Take For Turmeric To Start Working?

The time that it takes to start seeing the benefits of turmeric is dependent on the ailments or areas of your health that you are looking to cure or improve on. However, typically it takes three to four months before you begin to notice results or improvements.

Jamaican Turmeric Tea Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tbsp fresh turmeric - grated, grounded or cut into small pieces
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Root - (crushed or diced into tiny pieces)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 slices of lemon
  • Honey for sweetening
  • Pinch black pepper
  • Cinnamon leaves - (dried or fresh)
  • 2 cups of water

PROCEDURE

  1. Step 1: Add 2 cups of water to a saucepan and bring to a boil, add your freshly prepared turmeric, garlic and ginger, cover, reduce the heat and allow to slowly simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.

  2. Step 2: Add your additional ingredients such as the lemon slices, cinnamon leaves to the pot, cover and allow to continue cooking for 5 to 10 more minutes.

  3. Step 3: Once you have completed step two, add a pinch of black pepper, which helps the body to digest the turmeric. Strain your tea and sweetened it with honey to your desire.

Turmeric tea, when consumed consistently, will, over time provide the body with many benefits. However, regardless of how great this product is if you have never had turmeric before, give your doctor a call before you try this recipe.
