Sandals South Coast and Sandals Negril offer two different experiences. Both are all-inclusive luxury resorts with stellar customer service but that is where the differences end.
Each hotel comes with its perks and one perk of staying at Sandals Negril is first of all being in Negril. Not only will you be able to explore Negril whenever you want and enjoy days spent outside the walls of the resort, but you will also get to do so with little to no commute as most things are within walking distance of the resort. If not, then a short cab ride will get you there.
Negril is also closer to Montego Bay and specifically the Montego Bay Airport than Sandals South Coast so, essentially you will have a shorter commute to and from the airport.
Sandals South Coast is perfect if you want to explore the Jamaican south coast, while it will be easy to organise transportation from Negril to attractions like YS, it will be a little bit of a journey. Sandals South Coast is also a larger hotel with many more room options, restaurants, pools and bars.
The nearest town to Sandals South Coast is the fishing village of Whitehouse, where there isn’t much to explore and while it isn’t a great distance from the hotel, it is not necessarily within walking distance. There are no souvenir shops or stores located nearby either. The hotel does have a gift shop though.
Sandals South Coast (formerly Sandals Whitehouse) is Sandals’ European village hotel. The hotel is inspired by different European countries and the architecture and restaurants in each section are modelled loosely similar to this region.
The three sections, the French, Italian and the newly remodeled Dutch area have uniquely decorated rooms and restaurants.
Rooms
There are five areas for accommodation, the Dutch, French and Italian villages, the Overwater Bungalows and the South Seas Rondoval Suites. There are different levels of suites across 21 room categories, with butler-level suites having the most amenities and evidently the most expensive.
You can also decide whether you would like an oceanview, beachfront or swim-up room. The Rondoval and Bungalow Suites are the most exclusive. Rondoval rooms are all swim-up suites which lead directly to the exclusive Rondoval lazy pool.
This can only be accessed by guests staying in these suites. The overwater bungalows are well…in the sea.
Dining
9 restaurants at Sandals South Coast cater to a wide variety of pallets. No two restaurants are the same as they serve many different cuisines from Italian to authentic Jamaican. They also range in formality, so you can get glammed up or dress down if you wish.
Sandals Negril is the smaller of the two, but it is located in one of the most popular tourist destinations in Jamaica and, dare I say, the world. Sandals Negril has similar amenities as South Coast but, again the atmosphere of these resorts is quite different.
Located on the famed Seven-Mile is this laidback beachfront resort with 7 restaurants and 5 bars.
Rooms
There are 16 room categories at this resort including swim-up, beachfront, 2-storey, penthouse, walkout, oceanview, honeymoon and butler suites.
Dining
The beauty of Sandals resorts is that you can always expect there to be something unique at each resort, dining experience included. Sandals Negril also has 7 restaurants but they only have one in common resort with Sandals South Coast, Bayside.
The other resorts at Sandals Negril are Cucina Romana, Sundowner, Kimonos, Beach Bistro, Barefoot by the Sea, and Bella Napoli. Here is a little extra information about the restaurants at Sandals Negril.
Entertainment
There is no time to be bored at Sandals Negril with an inspiring outlay of land and water activities to be done both day and night, of course, conditions apply. Not to mention the themed nights and private cabanas if you’d love a little alone time.
Both hotels are all-inclusive which means food, drinks, entertainment and even airport transfers are included. The only things that aren’t included are spa services and souvenirs.
So, the resort you choose depends on the vacation you would like to have. Whichever Sandals resort you choose there is no doubt you will have a wonderful, relaxing time.
There are many Sandals resorts in Jamaica. Here are others:
