November 2016 - My Best Birthday Ever

This was a day that I will never forget, A day filled with joy and happiness but most importantly, a day filled with love.

ON the sixteenth (16th) of November 2016 my beautiful girlfriend began the day with a series of surprises.

We have been together for five years and all my past birthdays with her, she never tried to surprise me.

Yes she always gave me gifts and showed me a wonderful time but this year was totally different. She went out and beyond to make the day really feel like it's my day.

It was a Wednesday and I got up to getting ready for work like I usually do. She normally leaves out for work before me and as I proceed to open the door for her to go as I always did, I was greeted with a beautifully decorated "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" on the door.

It was amazing, so amazing that it's almost Christmas and I still haven't removed it off the door.

After she wished me a happy birthday with a gentle soft kiss she left for work.

I began to get ready for work and that's when I realized that she had planned out my whole day for me, she even labeled the socks that I should wear.

A few minutes after arriving to work I saw a beautifully wrapped gift basket coming in to the office, I was so surprised that if the gentleman didn't asked for me by name I wouldn't believe it was mine.

The final destination before home after work was a nice little chill spot (barbican beach bar) suggested by a friend to me because of all the surprises that was going on that day, I also had one of my own.

So I left work linked-up' with two friends and Shameka, my beautiful girlfriend. We went to the the Barbican Beach Bar, though we got lost a few times finding the place as it was the first time for all of us except Anray, the friend who suggested the place who had gone there only once before. It was all worth it in the end.

We were having a wonderful time, we ordered drinks and talked and take pictures and listen to music while recording the moment on my smartphone.

It was now time to eat and this is when things started to get really excited.

She began to feed me after we said a short prayer to bless the food. Then I told her it's ok she should eat.

She picked up the fork and as she unwrapped it from the napkin, something fell out and she proceed to look what is was, she paused when she saw the ring and almost didn't pick it up.

Tears filled her eyes as those around us screamed in joy for what was now taking place.

I took the ring and began my speech which I was so nervous I couldn't deliver as I had practice.

I got and my knees and started expressing my love to her totally different from what I had written. Though in the end I think I still did a good job even though I was somewhat speechless and nervous.

Then I ask the question. "Shameka McDonald, I want to go to bed with you in the nights, wake up next to you in the mornings, come home from work to you in the evenings. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will You Marry Me?...

From the title of my story I know you know what the answer was. And now we are in the process of planning.
