Im trying to find any links to a george silvera who in Nov 1963 was the informant of his grandfathers death. George silvera lived in Friendship and his grandfather was Frank Hanchard (francis Lee Hanchard). He died in Martin's. St Marys Parrish. Jamaica. Any help or advice would be gratefully received. his son alexis silvera is my 4th great grandfather, then there is George M Silvera my 3rd great grandfather,his daughter Edith F Silvera is my great great grandma I have a picture of her. edith had my great grandma Majorie Bailey/Bunch, then my grandma Sandy Tillema

My mothers maiden name is Silvera and was born in Oriente, Cuba her fathers name was Reynaldo Silvera.. but that it as far as I know. I know that my mom would describe her fathers parents as being dark skin with straight black hair and light eyes and were coffee and tobacco leaf pickers.

I myself is from St. Mary, (Albion Mountain Dist) to be exact and i went school with people from Freehill, Jacksriver and so on.

Captain George silvera lived in Bath, St thomas. there is even a valle or valley nearby that is named Silvera. Had many children one was Leopold George Silvera who made his way to the north coast - 1st wife died (several children) and married Gertrude Collis Montgomery Pond. Had three children. One died in WWI, two other children passed in 1967 & 69. After the death of Leopold George silvera Gertrude married Edgar carnell-Sara Remaining extended family members are from the daughter & grand daughters of Leopold George - UK, US, Jamaica and elsewhere in the west Indies. Would enjoy inforation on other family members of Leopold George or Captain George silvera.

A good number of Silveras are buried at Crescent - St. Mary family home for a good number of years and was rebuilt after a fire to be a guest house named Tamrind in St. Mary. The owner of the home has much information of the silvera's buried at the family graves.

The newspaperarchives.com (jamaica) has all the old newspaper articles from 1860- thru to today.
