I always stay at Miyard Resort on One Love Drive, Negril. The owner Delroy Johnson has four rooms and one cottage (with full kitchen) that are very affordable.
The rooms are basic, but comfortable. While not air conditioned the ceiling fans keep the rooms cool.
I love the upstairs room closest to the sea. From the veranda you can see the fishermen bringing in their catch in the mornings and can watch the world go by.
This trip, I loved waking up to the sound of the patty man "Patty mi have, patty mi have, coco bread, coco bread and cheeeese." :-)
There is a sand beach across the street for swimming and snorkeling.
MiYard hotel has a 24 hour bar/restaurant with authentic Jamaican food, including breadfruit, fritters, festival, salt fish, plantain, sold by the piece or full meals.
I love their steamed fish, brown stew chicken and curry goat, in addition to their Jamaican breakfast, which may include callaloo and saltfish, or ackee and saltfish, dumplings, yams, green banana, pumpkin and more.
All of their meals are very reasonably priced.
Another advantage of MiYard is that there is a produce truck that stops by on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with loads of fresh fruits and vegetables at very reasonable prices.
The oranges this year were some of the juiciest I think I've ever had.
Miyard's location is great also, it is close to other bars, restaurants and shopping and not that far of a walk to 7 Mile beach.
I just got back from two weeks there and rode in a vehicle only a couple of times and otherwise walked everywhere.
