Direct descendant of Thomas Dale Tate. He was my 4xgreat grandfather via a child with Mary Anglin, not Frances. How's it going?

Greetings. My father's name is Astor Tate and my grandfather's name is Astor Tate. I learned that my grandfather is from Westmoreland and his father's name was also Thomas Tate. Is the name Astor Tate familiar to anyone on here?

Hello folks,
I have been researching for many years and discovered fairly recently the link to Philip Leyson and Anna Maria LEYSON (nee ROBERTS). Their daughter married Thomas EWEN of Bristol and several generations later I arrived on the scene in Australia - my mum was a EWEN. They are also linked to the PATTERSON family - William built the SS Great Britain.

I have all the info also maria leyson grave some of john brothers went to australia i have traced all of then i went a few weeks ago to twickenham cemtery to see fanny grave and her grandson gilbert bryant ewen it was great to see

Hi again from Nicola Ewen in Winchcombe !
It seems that I am also descended from Captain Philip Leyson of the brig "Rover" , on board of which he wrote his Will in 1805 in harbour at St Thomas !
He married Maria Ann Roberts, b1763 ,Bristol.
Their daughter Ann Maria Leyson ,b 1792 Bristol,married Thomas Ewen 17?? , and their son William John Ewen ,b 1820, Bristol,was married to Fanny Anglin Tate b1842,my great-grandparents .

My first cousin bridget also a Grt GRt GRT grandaughter of Thos Tate, ALSO lives in Norfolk, In Norwich, I'm going to tell her about this site and tell her to look for your postings (& Mine!)
I'm in New york State by the way! tates all overe evidently!Incidentally he owned a lot more than the two properties you mentioned. He also had properties at Cove, Culloden. Rotherwood and Shafston.

Message for Doreen. Yes we are definetly relateed,as thomas tate was my great great great grandfather also. Sorry, i'm not on Facebook! You are also related to my cousin,0f the Iver family once of Mandeville as we have the same grandmother. Edith irene Kirkham (Tate) and to my sister who lives in Switzerland. Must be lots of us out there as TT had a VERY large family! he also owned shafston, Cove and Culloden. Must have been filthy rich!

I am the grandaughter of Edith Irene Tate, of Shafston Estate, Bluefields, Westmoreland. family also owned Grandvale,nr Whitehouse Maybe a relation? . Edith married Bertram Arnold Kirkham also of Westmoreland. She had one sibling, David Laurence Tate who was a surgeon, with a practice in Montego Bay.

Sounds like you are related to the Tate & Lyle Sugar Company people. I think there might have been a Tate & Lyle Sugar Cane plantation somewhere, maybe Frome, Westmoreland, and there are some Anglins in Hanover...close, neighbouring parish.

I am a descendant of John Russell Moore whom owned several plantations in Westmoreland, including Amity and Kings, until his death in 1829. His parents were John Moore and Mary [Brown]. Mary went on to marry Thomas Tate; a doctor.
Their eldest son was Thomas Dale Tate whom married Mary Ann Anglin. This then makes John Russell and Thomas Dale half brothers. If this is your family, I would be very interested in what you know about how Mary and Thomas Tate met !
Have you looked at the Jamaica Family Search website? There is a lot of information on it.

John Russell Moore's daughter, whom inherited Kings, married Robert Briggs in London, UK in 1824.
