Contest Entry #014 - Lizards In Jamaica - love em or hate em
Unlike most Jamaicans, I am not troubled or frightened by lizards.
I was able to quickly snap this photo before my fiancé noticed what I was up to and waved the lizard back outside.
It has been interesting for me living in Jamaica after spending most of my life in Hawaii, a place where lizards are a sign of luck and good fortune (they also eat bugs!).
Here, I have friends who will run and scream at the sight of a lizard. That is a reaction I save only for cockroaches…..and forty legs (centipedes) ;-)
I remember this photo was taken from our kitchen window. It was a rainy day outside (welcome to Portland) and we both had the same day off work (which rarely happens) so we were staying in making a nice soup meal and listening to music and enjoying life… after waving the lizard away of course - hehehe
