Nicholas Richards

Richards was born on 29 November 199. He attended Jamaica College where he participated in several sports including football, volleyball and track and field. During a summer basketball camp in 2013, he was spotted by Andre Ricketts, a basketball scout from New York City. Richards was brought to the US by Ricketts, who enrolled him at Manhasset, New York's St. Mary's High School. On February 21, 2021, Richards made his NBA G League debut for the Greensboro Swarm, scoring 26 points and snagging 10 rebounds. He played in just 18 games with the Hornets during the 2020โ€“21 NBA season, averaging 3.5 minutes and.8 points per contest. In a 127-124 overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on December 6, 2021, Richards recorded a season-high 12 points, along with five rebounds and two assists.

Richards had a then-career-high 19 points and ten rebounds on October 19, 2022, as the Hornets defeated the San Antonio Spurs 129-102 in the season opener. In a 126-109 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on October 23, he recorded a career-high 20 points, along with eleven rebounds and two blocks. Richards and the Hornets agreed to a three-year, $15 million contract deal on March 22, 2023.

Patrick Ewing

Patrick Ewing is a Jamaican-born American basketball player and coach who was one of the greatest stars of his period, mostly when playing for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on August 5, 1962, in Kingston, Jamaica. Ewing had a stellar collegiate career at Georgetown, where he guided the Hoyas to three appearances in an NCAA Division I national championship game and to a national championship in 1984. He also won three All-American honours and was chosen as the 1984 Division I basketball tournament's Most Outstanding Player. The Knicks, who had earlier that year won the first NBA draft lottery ever conducted, selected him with the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA draft. In his 15 years with the organisation, he led the Knicks to 13 playoff appearances, including a trip to the 1994 NBA Finals, but he eventually failed to lead the team to a championship. Throughout his career, he was chosen as an NBA all-star 11 times. Ewing stepped down in 2002.

Samardo Samuels

Samardo Samuels was born on January 9, 1989. He is a professional basketball player from Jamaica who competes for Bashkimi Prizren in the Kosovo Basketball Superleague. After going undrafted in the 2010 NBA draft, Samuels began his professional career by playing for the Chicago Bulls in the 2010 NBA Summer League, posting 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds. His career has included several short-term contracts with various organisations.

Rumeal Robinson

He was a former Jamaican-American NBA basketball player. The Atlanta Hawks selected Robinson with the tenth overall choice in the 1990 NBA Draft. The Hawks agreed to a four-year contract with him. He also had stints with the Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Charlotte Hornets, New Jersey Nets, and Charlotte Hornets. Robinson played in the Continental Basketball Association for a while as well. He was for KK Zadar in the 2001โ€“2002 Euroleague season. Robinson's performance in the NBA was quite erratic. His first year in New Jersey, 1992โ€“1993, was his final regular season before he never played in more than 54 games again.

Jerome Jordan

Jerome Adolphus Jordan, a professional basketball player for Pearol Mar del Plata of the Liga Nacional de Bรกsquet (LNB), was born in Jamaica on September 29, 1986. He participated in collegiate basketball for the University of Tulsa and competes internationally for the Jamaican national team. Jordan began his professional career after the Milwaukee Bucks selected him with the 44th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. His rights were transferred to the New York Knicks on July 8, 2010, in exchange for money. In time for the 2010 NBA Summer League, he joined the Knicks. Later that year, he made a contract with Serbia's KK Hemofarm for the 2010โ€“11 campaign.

Other NBA Basketball Players include:

  • Wayne Sappleton
  • Omari Johnson
  • Josh Minott
  • Andrew Kennedy
  • Vashil Fernandez

Jamaican-born NBA players have made significant strides in the league, carving out successful careers and leaving an enduring impact on the sport.
