1. Miss Lily’s

Location: 109 Avenue A, New York, NY 10009

I am putting Miss Lily’s first on this list because I have been to their location in Negril a few times, and if the food in New York is anything like their food here, you are in for quite a treat. Miss Lily’s blends the East Village’s punk vibe with an 80s Jamaican diner feel, creating a lively spot for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. The restaurant is known for its extensive Rum Bar, offering over 100 varieties of Caribbean rum, and a distinctive decor that captures the look of vintage East Village bodegas.

2. Jasmine's Caribbean Cuisine

Location: 371 W 46th St, New York, NY 10036, United States

Jasmine’s Caribbean Cuisine offers a delicious escape with dishes inspired by islands like Dominica, Antigua, St. Thomas, Trinidad, and Jamaica. The menu is crafted from family recipes passed down through generations, making every meal a heartwarming experience.

3. Caribbean Starr

Location: 280 Malcolm X Blvd, New York, NY 10027, United States

Caribbean Starr serves traditional Caribbean favorites like Oxtail and Jerk Chicken. Patrons love pairing their meals with sides like Mac and Cheese, and seafood lovers will enjoy options such as Curry Shrimp and Brown Stew Whole Fish, all served in a welcoming and lively setting.

4. Cooler Runnings Jamaican

Location: 1802 Nereid Ave, Bronx, NY 10466, United States

Cooler Runnings Jamaican is a go-to spot for authentic Jamaican cuisine, open 24/7. It’s perfect for any meal, from breakfast classics like Ackee & Saltfish to hearty lunch dishes like Oxtail. With a wide range of options, it’s easy to see why this spot is a Bronx favourite.

5. Omar's Kitchen and Rum Bar

Location: 29 A Clinton Street, New York, NY

Omar’s Kitchen transports diners to the vibrant dancehall scene of Jamaica with colourful murals, neon signs, and a lively atmosphere. The menu offers creative twists like coconut curry oxtail and signature cocktails, making it a great place for a night out or weekend brunch.

6. Negril Village

Location: 70 W 3rd St, New York, NY 10012

One of the longest-running Caribbean restaurants in Manhattan, Negril Village serves up island tunes and upscale Jamaican dishes like jerk wings, brown stew chicken, and tamarind-glazed barbecue ribs. It’s a lively spot that captures the essence of the Caribbean dining experience.

7. Imani Caribbean Kitchen

Location: 271 Adelphi Street, Brooklyn, NY 11205

Imani Caribbean Kitchen puts a modern spin on traditional Jamaican dishes in a trendy corner brownstone. Highlights include ackee and saltfish spring rolls and steamed snapper, all complemented by their potent rum punch, especially during half-off happy hour.

8. The Door

Location: 163-07 Baisley Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11434

The Door is a staple for authentic Jamaican cuisine served in an upscale environment. Known for dishes like oxtail, escovitch fish, and buttered lobster, it’s a top choice for locals and visitors alike, especially during their popular buffet nights.

9. Kokomo

Location: 65 Kent Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11249

Kokomo merges art deco and island flair, creating a chic dining space with deliciously seasoned jerk chicken and vibrant island-inspired cocktails. The atmosphere is lively, with a soundtrack of dancehall, soca, and Afrobeats, making it the perfect spot for brunch or a night out.

These Jamaican restaurants in New York are perfect for exploring the rich flavors of Jamaican cuisine, whether you’re a newbie trying jerk chicken for the first time or a seasoned foodie craving your favorite oxtail dish.
