Hi, Wellesley. I joined your site to learn something about your country. As a Puerto Rican, I feel we are being kept in the dark about Jamaica and all other countries in the Caribbean.
Incredibly, they taught us very little about our neighbors in school, only the very basics, I would say, and if it's anything like what I see they teach about us elsewhere, it was probably outdated.
It's been decades ago for me, so I don't know whether that has improved, but I have seen no signs that it has. So I am seeking a little more knowledge about the Caribbean in general. I thank you for your site. I hope to learn from just reading a bit more than I did before. Thanks. Jorge
Editor's Note
Hi Jorge,
Greetings to you and all the people of beautiful Puerto Rico!
Absolutely! The pleasure is mine. I'm happy and humbled that you were able to find my site, and find it useful.
I agree, there is a lot more we should do to help the Caribbean people learn more about each other. We seem to know and learn more about our foreign friends than we do each other.
Perhaps this will plant a seed and the few Caribbean institutions we still have remaining, including the University Of The West Indies, will take the opportunity to consider this, your concern.
Thanks again for your feedback.
Regards,
Wellesley Gayle
