The Holiday Inn Resort in Montego Bay has been a go-to family-friendly resort for many vacationers for decades. It’s owned by Kevin Hendrickson’s East Bay Management, and l has been a part of the IHG family since 2008. It’s now been 16 successful years, and Hendrickson has decided it’s time to pass the torch. “It was a tough choice to let go of such a beloved property, but we’re thrilled to hand it over to Catalonia Hotels & Resorts,” Hendrickson shared.

This isn’t just any hotel sale though. Catalonia Hotels & Resorts by the looks of things, know what they are doing. They have over 40 years of experience in the tourism industry, with locations all over the Caribbean, including popular spots in the Dominican Republic and Mexico. So now they are ready to bring their flavour and expertise to our island and they officially took the reigns on July 1, 2024.

East Bay Management and Catalonia Hotels & Resorts have teamed up to ensure a smooth transition for both guests and staff. The resort will continue to operate under the Holiday Inn brand until the end of June, to facilitate the transition but is now officially Catalonia Montego Bay Hotel

What’s Next?

So, what does this mean for the new Catalonia Montego Bay Hotel? Well, for starters, you can expect some exciting upgrades and enhancements. Catalonia is all about high standards and fantastic guest experiences, and they’ve got big plans to spruce up the resort. From new amenities to improved services, they’re eager to make your stay even more memorable.

Catalonia’s General Manager, Félix Navas, couldn’t be more excited about this new chapter. “We’re thrilled to expand our Caribbean presence with this incredible property,” he said. “We’re committed to making a positive impact on the local economy and community while keeping the resort’s unique charm.”

One of the coolest things about this takeover is the addition of 250 units to the resort's inventory, making it an even bigger and better place to unwind. This expansion was a much-needed one, especially because Montego Bay is one of Jamaica’s bustling tourism scenes. Just by the look of their website, they seem to have added more restaurants and dining options as well. They’re not stopping here either, they are talking about investing even more in Jamaica as we are one of the top tourist destinations in the Caribbean.

Here’s everything that the Catalonia Montego Bay Hotel has to offer:
Location: It’s nestled in the best beach area with a stunning white sand island right in front of the resort. It’s a 10-minute drive from Sangster International Airport.

Activities and Amenities:

  • Enjoy two outdoor pools, one with a swim-up bar and a hot tub area.
  • Kids can have fun at the Kids’ Club with various activities and games.
