The Hanover Association of Branch Societies (HABS) of the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) is the management group, which represents over 4000 registered farmers spread throughout the parish of Hanover in Jamaica.
In order to acknowledge and honour the work of our Hanover farmers we have decided to stage the inaugural Hanover Agricultural Show on 23rd May, 2016 at the Watson Taylor Park Complex, Lucea, Hanover.
The show will be dedicated to bringing focus on the progress and challenges of the Hanover farmer whilst showing appreciation for their perseverance and hard work.
The agricultural show is a wholesome family-friendly event that will feature a host of activities geared not only towards showcasing farmersโ produce and introducing them to the many community support services but to providing fun and information for the community. The Hanover Farm Queen will also be crowned.
The Hanover JAS branch has undertaken an aggressive and ambitious project to resuscitate farming in Hanover by re-igniting the agricultural spirit in farmers and encouraging young farmers to enter the sector and we believe the event can be the catalyst to help us realize success in this project.
