So you are building your dream home in Jamaica, but where will your furniture come from? Will you have to ship them all from abroad? Not at all! Jamaica has very capable (and affordable) furniture stores that more than fit the bill. What are these options? Let’s get into it.

With many locations islandwide, you can get to a store from quite literally any parish, some even have up to 3 locations! You can fully furnish your entire home entirely from courts as they supply everything from bedroom sets to appliances. And, if you happen to be building a home in another Caribbean island, then check out the Courts stores there as well.

While this is not a “Jamaican business”, Ashley is one of the more popular stores on the island, despite only having locations in the first and second city. The prices are more high-end, so while it is possible to outfit your entire home here, most people mix them in with more affordable pieces from other local stores.
Courts Jamaica Limited actually has the licence to operate Ashley Home Stores in the Caribbean, so “technically” it is a Courts store as well.

Definitely the store to go, if you want to add modern elegance to your home. Whether your style is minimalist, farmhouse or rustic you’ll be able to find modern elements that seamlessly fit into the home you envision. They offer furniture for homes and offices plus so much more. If you want to, Active can be your store from the very beginning as they also sell tiles, lighting, windows, doors and hardware items.

This is also an affiliate store of Courts Jamaica limited, but it is well-known that it is the most affordable furniture store in Jamaica.

In my opinion, the two largest furniture stores in Jamaica are Courts and Singer. When most people think of furniture, it is usually one or the other. With 19 locations across the island, it is quite obvious how they became so popular.
Singer has multiple locations across the island as well. Each store offers a wide selection of furniture and appliances to suit any taste. They offer mid-range to high-end pieces.

Boss Furniture Store in Kingston has new furniture pieces ready for purchase as well as reupholstering services for those pieces that you aren’t ready to let go but could do with a little TLC.
If you prefer a customized piece, they are quite capable of fulfilling your wishes. If you need help choosing the colours for your reupholstered pieces their customer service attendants will offer the best help.

This furniture store has a single location in St. Andrew. It has a mixture of beautiful and consciously curated pieces that will suit the atmosphere you are trying to create at your home.

This store has two locations, but they are both in Kingston. Nonetheless, they offer furniture to suit different styles. Of all the stores in Jamaica, Khemlani Mart does cater to a more eccentric audience.
For example, if you are interested in a “gold throne” toilet bowl or geometrically shaped sofa sets, Khemlani Mart is your store.

It is typical for any town in Jamaica to have foreigners who sell furniture and appliances for a considerably lower cost than the larger stores would.
And there are no major setbacks except, that a larger store might allow you to take the item before you’ve finished financing it and they also have longer warranties than these smaller stores.
With downtown stores, you have an increased possibility of getting a discount than the larger stores.
Can I purchase furniture online in Jamaica?
You don’t even need to be here to make your furniture or appliance purchases. All these stores (with the exception of downtown ones) have websites that facilitate online purchases. Some, even have online assistance to help you along with your online shopping trips. Most of these actually offer delivery and assembly (sometimes for free).
Do furniture stores in Jamaica have payment plans?
Payment options are very important. If you can afford to, you can definitely pay for it all at once but, if you need some time to do so, must stores allow you to have these items on hire purchase and you can either collect them and pay over time while using the items or make down payments on the item until it is fully financed before taking it home, (most places allow you to do the former).
Though this isn’t a “furniture store” option, local carpenters are a great option for locally made, fully customizable pieces. In fact, Mr. Scully took us on a little journey as to what it’s like to be a furniture maker in Jamaica.
