Well for many, just a few days at an all-inclusive resort on the island is vacation enough. But for others, a few excursions and sightseeing tours are a requirement for it to be a good holiday. If you fall into the latter category, then here are excursions in Montego Bay.

Montego Bay is known for having stunning beaches, gorgeous, lavish accommodations, golf courses, shopping, museums, historic sites, great restaurants and entertainment. It is also the location of the most frequented airport on the island, Sangster International.
That is entirely up to you. The best way for me to help is to let you know all the excursions in and around Montego Bay and then you can decide what to do from there.
Now, this is easy. If you are staying at a resort, chances are you already have access to the beach. But if your accommodation does not have beach access, or, you would just like to visit a local beach then your best options are Doctor’s Cave, Dead End, Buccaneer Beach, Harmony Beach Park and Old Hospital Park Beach.
Doctor’s Cave is the only paid beach on the list, but this comes with perks such as well-kept restrooms and changing rooms. Umbrellas and chairs are available for rent.
Bringing food on the property is prohibited as Pier 1 has a beachside location which is an extension of the original restaurant. They serve fusion dishes, drinks and cocktails. There is a snow cone stand as well.
While Starbucks is not on the property directly on the property, you can also make purchases by the beach window.
Dead End Beach is at the end of Jimmy Cliff Boulevard, the beach locals usually attend. More often than not you will find vendors selling everything from jerk chicken to beer. There are no changing rooms or restrooms so you will have to get creative with that.
Old Hospital Park Beach (One Man Beach) is also free and will have vendors at times but less frequently than Dead End does. There are no restrooms or changing rooms here either.
What was previously known as Dump Up Beach has been transformed into Harmony Beach Park. This is a great recreational park for all ages with lawns, changing rooms, restrooms, beachside eateries, swimsuit shops and the beach. Access to all this is free, however, you must rent beach umbrellas and chairs and pay to use the floating waterpark.
They do not prohibit bringing food, but drinks in glass bottles are not allowed. While admission is free, you will have to pay for parking which is calculated at JMD 200 per hour.
Places like Kelly’s Watersports, Captains Water Sports and C-Jay’s Water sports offer motorised and non-motorised water sports in Montego Bay such as:
There are many historical buildings mixed in with modern architecture in Montego Bay. A primary example of this is Sam Sharpe Square (Parade). You will see modern buildings like the new Popeye’s and Burger King, but the Civic centre, Sam Sharpe statue and The Cage are just across the road.
You can also visit Fort Montego if not for the history tour of the old English fort, complete with now retired cannons then surely for the uninterrupted views of the azure waters of the Caribbean. There are shops located there as well that sell craft market items, clothing and handmade jewellery just to name a few.
I’m sure you already know and were probably planning to visit even without my recommendation, but it is worth mentioning again. The Rose Hall Great House tour is a must.
It not only gives insight into what a 17th-century great house was like but into the life of one particular slave owner, Annie Palmer and her mysterious past.
On the Elegant Corridor is where you will find most of the golf courses in Montego Bay. The famous Half Moon, Cinnamon Hill and Half Moon Golf Courses are located in the area.

You can also go bowling in Ironshore, go-karting in Fairfield or roller skating on the Hip Strip.
Though these excursions are not in Montego Bay, they are located within half an hour to 45 minutes of the town. You can always make it there and back before the night begins.
I’m sure you can find a full day of fun from this list. And there are lots more places to discover as well.
