CVM TV Jamaica
by Wellesley Gayle
Our Jamaica today boast a wide range of media entities, across the newspaper, radio, cable and television spectrum and CVM TV without bias, is considered one of the most prominent. In fact, I think one of their slogans reads “fair, fearless and thorough”.

According to their website, the company now enjoys forty-nine percent (49%) share of the market, broadcasting a full twenty-four (24) hours of planned programming each day.
So what’s with the CVM? What does the “CVM” mean? CVM is actually an acronym where the C stands for Community Television Systems Limited; the V stands for Videomax Limited and the M for Mediamax Limited.
The company was inaugurated on July 31, 1990 and was granted its license to operate in Jamaica in March 1991. CVM TV however did not begin live broadcasting in Jamaica until March 1993 – then the second of its kind in Jamaica.
Since then the company has grown exponentially, increasing and improving in all aspects of their business. They currently boast island wide coverage, with transmitters installed in all fourteen parishes of the island. Their current programming captures news, sports, movies, series and general family entertainment.
Their two major news programs are NewsWatch and News At Noon. Their major sports programs are SportsWatch, which comes as a part of the evening news and Football GPS, a more recent addition.
Direct, hosted by Garfield Burford, and Live At 7 (Live@Seven), hosted by Simon Crosskill, are their flagship current affairs programs.
CVM At Sunrise, Caribbean’s Next Top Model, Naked Truth and Inspire Jamaica, are their current lifestyle programs, while D WRAP and HIT LIST comprises their much sought after entertainment package.
You can find CVM TV’s full program schedule on their website at https://www.cvmtv.com/static/schedule
Their upgraded website now has special live streaming, depending on their program schedule.
And
by the way, if you miss any of the above program, no worries! They
currently offer most, if not all of them available on their website for
later viewing. That’s very convenient for people like me, and perhaps
you, who always have many other engagements.
CVM Television is a member of the CVM Group which is comprised of Hot 102, one of Jamaica’s leading radio stations.
