Brand new day, brand new month, brand new year, brand new opportunities! Happy New Year Peeps! #2022
I sighed just as I was about to type this...
Why? Well outside of the fact that I'm able to sigh freely and healthy (oh yes that's a blessing), I realize how blessed and favored I am, in so many ways.
Last year was tough in so many ways; it was the second year of the pandemic, but less persons would have anticipated the damage it caused in so many lives here in Jamaica - extended school closures, continuation of curfews and lockdowns, limited business hours, work from home, shortage of some critical food and supplies, additional business closures/ lockdowns (especially in the tourism sector), illnesses and death!
In addition to several associates and friends, I lost two persons close to me from this cruel virus.
But you know what, we all should have learned some critical life lessons, and I certainly did! There are many, but these (3) three jumped out at me.
1) Value people and not things
2) Be grateful
3) Consider everyday as a gift
But it was also the year that despite the plummeting of my website traffic and earnings, I saw a significant rise in my YouTube subscriber base. In fact, we closed out the year at over 45k subscribers!
My first daughter brought joy to the family when she was awarded 12 CSEC distinctions (yes all 'A' profiles) and as far as I know, one of the best in the island!
It was also the year that Sher and Deon came on board, assisting me part time with posting content here on the site, without them I would have been sick by now.
As a family we also enjoyed relative good health and wellbeing, and god continues to be good to me, placing me in what I sometimes say is just the right place at the right time!
So all in all, despite the setbacks (and one person said that a setback is a setup for a comeback), we not only survived, we excelled in many ways in another year of pandemic and to that I (will always) say, #ToGodBeTheGlory!
But my gratitude can't end without a sincere thanks to YOU as well.
Whether it is your 'patreonage' on Patreon, your readership here on the website, your subscription on my YouTube channel and the other social media platforms, your comments, your suggestions or your feedback.
You have been awesome and I say, THANK YOU! Thank you for staying the journey with me.
And that extends to my partners and long standing friends, I wish for you the very best of everything good, including health and peace of mind.
Stay with me though, God's willing, I expect some greater things this year!
Love you loads! Wellesley
