Founded by Chef Don Coley in Leimert Park back in 1982, The Original Coley’s is now a Sherman Oaks gem. Known for its exceptional brown stew chicken, callaloo and saltfish, and cheesy beef patties, this spot keeps the authentic flavours alive. Vegans will be delighted with the flavorful callaloo, and everyone can enjoy the soft, fresh coco bread.

A small takeout spot with a big reputation, Pasadena Fish Market is where you go when you’re in the know. The Jamaican menu here is simple but superb, featuring dishes like goat curry, stewed oxtails, and plantains. Don’t miss the Southern favourites like fried seafood and peach cobbler that round out the menu.

If you’re looking for a place that offers the best of both worlds—great food and a laid-back vibe—Little Kingston is your spot. Nestled in View Park-Windsor Hills, this cosy restaurant serves up classic Jamaican dishes like jerk chicken, ackee and saltfish, and pimento-spiced rice and peas. The outdoor patio is perfect for soaking up that LA sun while you enjoy your meal.

Right across from SoFi Stadium, Blessed Tropical is a family-run treasure known for its massive portions and affordable prices. Ackee Bamboo is a Leimert Park institution and a shining example of Black woman-owned culinary excellence. This counter-service restaurant is famous for its jerk chicken, fluffy festival bread, and the national dish of Jamaica, ackee and saltfish. The dish is a harmonious blend of savoury and sweet, perfectly capturing the essence of Jamaican cuisine.

For those looking for a lively dining experience, A Beautiful Life in Downtown LA is where the party’s at. With a thumping playlist, tropical drinks, and a menu that includes oxtail mac and cheese, jerk shrimp, and rasta pasta, this spot is as vibrant as the food is delicious. For a quicker option, their takeout location on Spring Street is just as good.

Wi Jammin is a Mid City staple, known for its brown stew chicken, escovitch red snapper, and Jamaican curry dishes. The bright yellow building is a beacon of deliciousness, drawing in locals who have been coming here for years. Weekends are special with the addition of crab legs, spiced to perfection.

With over 35 years of serving the Mid-City community, Natraliart is one of LA’s oldest and best Jamaican restaurants. The jerk chicken here is standout, tender and perfectly spiced, and it’s the kind of meal that stays with you long after the last bite. Don’t skip the oxtails or curry shrimp either—both are fantastic.
