Contest Entry #026 - A fabulous day with Rasta Ralphie in Jamaica
We love Jamaica! The beaches are fabulous, the sunsets mesmerizing, the Red Stripe delicious, the food divine, and when you need to escape central Canada's bitterly cold winters, the Jamaican sunshine is just about perfect.
But it's the Jamaican people that have brought us back four (4)times in the last 6 years!
We have met so many interesting, kind, happy people while in Jamaica... and Rasta Ralphie stands out as a kindred spirit.
During a catamaran ride in Negril, we had the pleasure of listening to Ralphie entertain us with his guitar; his songs and his dancing.
We can only hope we have that much energy when we are in our 70's!
After buying his home-made CD and some of his jewelry, we sat and talked with him at length about his mother and his music and his spirituality. We learned much that day and came away feeling very enlightened.
No wonder respect is such an important word in Jamaica - we both learned to respect each other's religion that day - it's a day I have thought of many times.
Whose smile is brighter in this picture - it's hard to say!
