But now, you want to know which resort is closest to the airport so your vacation can begin as soon as you arrive on the island. Luckily, Sandals has many resorts all across the island.
The Sangster’s International Airport has as many as 3 resorts in its proximity, Sandals Inn being the closest.
The resort has 52 rooms on the Hip Strip in Montego Bay. While the hotel does not have all the amenities of the typical Sandals resort due to its size, you do get access to the two nearby hotels with the Sandals “eat and play”. This resort , just like all other Sandals resorts, is all-inclusive. Inclusive of premium liquor, dining options and 24-hour room service.
Some rooms are actually Penthouse Suites with private butlers. The hotel has a courtyard pool, but it does not have a private beach. It is located directly across from a public beach and only a short walk away from the famous Doctor’s Cave or many other free beaches on the strip.
You could also visit the other Sandals resorts in the area to visit the beach and experience the all-inclusive luxuries of Sandals.
Many guests, especially older ones, appreciate the intimacy of the hotel.
How far is Sandals Montego Bay from the airport?
Sandals Montego Bay is next, just 5 minutes away from the airport or 15 minutes with heavy traffic. This resort is the flagship for the Sandals resorts and has a steady volume of guests, many of whom are returning guests whether or not it is the peak season.
The hotel has much to offer when it comes to water activities, restaurants and outdoor games. They also have varying levels and conveniences depending on the rooms you choose which could be anything from swim-up rooms to butler suites.
Again, you can visit the Sandals Inn and Sandals Royal Caribbean resorts.
Sandals Royal Caribbean is 10 minutes away from the airport and is located in Ironshore not far from the Sandals Montego Bay resort.
Royal Caribbean has 9 restaurants, 6 bars, various outdoor activities including watersports, exchange privileges with nearby resorts, a spa, a fitness centre and an offshore private island with a restaurant, bar and overwater bungalows.
This is the farthest away from the Sangsters International Airport by a considerable distance at over an hour away in the town of Negril. Located on the seven-mile beach, you will have beautiful views of the sunset and countless activities to fill your time until the day ends.
There are motorised and non-motorised water sports with professional instruction where necessary. And if watersports aren’t for you, then pick from the countless land activities available just the same.
The accommodations do not disappoint either, with luxurious rooms including private suites, butlers suite, swim-up lagoons and spa-style bathrooms to create your personal relaxation station.
Every night there is a themed party on the resort ranging from the rootsy tune of Reggae music to the lively Calypso nights.
And as with most Sandals resorts, swim-up bars, ensure your time in the pool is not shortened by a long walk to the bar.
The nightlife is definitely not disappointing either.
How will you get to your resort from the airport?
This is very easy. When you arrive at the Donald Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, right after leaving the Customs and Immigration area, you will see the Sandals desk or lounge.
They will direct you to your complimentary transportation to the Sandals resort which is your final destination. Transportation to and from the airport is a courtesy for Sandals guests; this is generally an air-conditioned coach.
If you would like a more personal and private experience, that comes at an additional cost. This must be arranged with the resort before your arrival for a smooth start to your vacation.
These are the closest Sandals resorts to the Sangster’s International Airport but don’t let this deter you from visiting the Sandals resorts in Ocho Rios or the South Coast, they are all stunning and provide some unique accommodations and amenities but you can still expect the Jamaican Sandals hospitality.
