Any idea on venue for a family reunion in St. Elizabeth or Manchester? I need a facility where I can have a family fun day, Bouncers, Games, etc.

I really hope you still have the family reunion trip on your mind. It’s quite remarkable to learn that you are seeking out the pleasures of the south coast of our beautiful island. It’s packed with charm especially if you are taking a step away from the all-inclusive offerings elsewhere on the island.

I have searched long and hard and I found what I think is a wow location for your family reunion; it’s in Treasure Beach St. Elizabeth. The property is called Jakes a very popular boutique hotel. I strongly recommend that you see their site at jakeshotel.com; the superbly laid out pictures captures the imagination. Before you wonder why I am suggesting this spot, let me quickly share some news with you.

You can rent the entire resort for your family event. Quite awesome I think. But here is the steal in the deal. The hotel is closely affiliated with the Breds Treasure Beach Sports Park & Academy which is a a 17-acre facility located just across from Jakes.

The park boasts several tennis courts, a cricket field, football (soccer) field, multipurpose courts where you can play basketball, netball or volleyball, a 400-foot zip line (totally cool right?) Plus an obstacle course named in honor of General Colin Powell – he happens to be a local boy.

This place has more space than you will ever need and has bathrooms, showers, food preparation and service areas, shady spots, swings and slides.

All for your convenience and at no additional charge. (Unbelievable!) As a matter of fact guests at Jakes are encouraged to hop over to the sports park and enjoy the beautiful space. The hotel has equipment and instructors available too! Just speak with the staff. I must admit that I was blown away to learn that celebs like the Lennox Lewis and the Williams Sisters - as in Venus and Serena - have visited and used the facility.

And although I am no celebrity, I visited with kids from schools around the island in May 2016 for an island wide EduSports Festival and it was great.

The user-friendly website at jakeshotel.com will share details with you, such as directions for you if you choose to drive to the hotel from the airport. They even provide suggestions on pick up options, car rentals and helicopter drop offs to the nearby aerodrome.
