This place is called Valda, which is in Content Gap, St. Andrew - am yet to get the history on it but I think it is a beautiful place and it has the look of an old English Garden.

I was trying to capture the blue lilies - hopefully you will see through my eyes how wonderful this place is :)

Growing up in Content from age 10 to 18,I spent many delightful days at Valda. Rowing the 2 Rafts in the pond, picking flowers and fruits for my mom (and lunch) from the estate to enjoying picnics there.

I'd sit on the decorative border/fence overlooking Kingston and while my time away conjuring up images that one could swear were past memories or spirits.. Saw myself as the lady of the manor in between rehearsing a Louise Bennett poem, our new composition for the Youth Club or a Oliver Samuels sketch.. lol

Yes, it rreminded me of a slave plantation, even had many signs, and my Uncle Fred Mais told me a lot about that place prior to my introduction to it.

If you have a chance go have a look, experience what all who visit feel. It's like "the calm after the storm"soooo peaceful and the view is magnificent.. Breathtaking night and day..

It was a nice bit of land but not so much now..unkept and decaying, yet the haunting peace remains. Almost like the echo of the past.

I have to let you know, the road to get there from Kingston is very, very dangerous. (Hopefully that will put all outsiders off ) . Then, you have to pass the Guava Ridge Massives (STREETCODE we say) THEN, you have a QUASHIE GAP DONS... Head up the hill (bad road) then all is well,

Ps.. The water service is non existent, hardly any in that area.. Well, water runs down easily, but need power to PUMP UP.. No resources, no care for the road nor public transportation. Oh well.. We still love it.

Please post here if it's ever for sale. I'm a glutton for punishment. " yuh naa know"? 😜

Its been over ten years since I've been back to Jamaica. My visit to Content Gap is so memorable.

THE walk up the hill to Valda was a lil strenuous. Once I made it to the top and saw the splendid Beauty, I forgot how tired I was. It was so was peaceful and the grass was immaculate.

It was couple days ago I was asking who the owner is. Valda reminds me of an old slave plantation although I've never been on one.

Would love to visit again in the near future!!
