One of the most popular activities in Negril is snorkelling, and there are plenty of great places to do it. Here are some of the best places to go snorkelling in Negril, Jamaica.
Both island residents and visitors enjoy visiting Negril's stunning Bloody Bay. The reef in Bloody Bay is near to the shore and has soft sand and clear water. It offers good underwater views of tiny tropical fish, sea stars, and crabs. Bloody Bay is a great place for beginning snorkelers and families with young children due to its shallow waters, calm currents, and bathtub-like temps
Booby Cay is a small island just off the coast of Negril that is surrounded by crystal-clear waters and coral reefs. The island is uninhabited, making it the perfect spot for a secluded snorkelling adventure. Visitors can rent a boat or kayak to reach the secluded island, where they can explore the underwater world with ease.
Due to its shallow depth, the Negril Reef is ideal for novice snorkellers. You can see swarms of tiny jellyfish drifting through the transparent water as you snorkel beneath the surface. Urchins, conch shells, and sea fans are abundant on the earth below.
Seven Mile Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Jamaica, and it is also an excellent spot for snorkelling. The warm, clear waters are home to a variety of marine life, including colourful fish, sea turtles, and coral reefs. Visitors can rent snorkelling equipment from local vendors along the beach, or they can bring their gear.
Rhodes Hall Plantation is a historic estate located just outside of Negril, and it is also home to some of the best snorkelling in the area. Visitors can explore the estate's private beach and coral reefs, which are teeming with marine life. Snorkelling equipment is available for rent, and there are also guided tours that provide more information about the area and its rich history.
One of the most well-known Negril beaches is Pristine Cove at the Rockhouse Hotel. This oceanfront resort, which is regarded as the island's top snorkelling location for underwater photos, is an underwater haven for snorkelers because the caves and grottoes are teeming with fish that you would typically only see in aquariums.
This is a quiet beach with a relaxed atmosphere, private surroundings, and few visitors. Half Moon Beach is not only one of Negril's most well-liked beaches but also among residents' favourite snorkelling spots on the island. This shoreline is home to some of Jamaica's most stunning, untouched coral reefs. Beach shoes are advised because there are numerous sea urchins in the shallows due to the proximity to the shore.
A small retreat with private huts perched on the cliff edges, Xtabi retreat is situated on Negril's West End, about ten minutes from Seven Mile Beach. Swimming and snorkelling are open to anyone. Visitors can either descend naturally carved stairs or jump off the cliffs directly into the cove. Take in the underwater views beneath the jade-coloured waters while exploring the subterranean caverns.
