Because of the property's illustrious history as one of the original hotels in Mandeville and Jamaica, it takes pride in providing exceptional service. The Mandeville Hotel, which is surrounded by broad lawns and tropical plants, is a true haven for travellers.

Numerous lodging options are available at The Mandeville Hotel, which also houses The Manchester Arms Pub and The Arches Restaurant.

History of the Mandeville Hotel

The 17-room hotel was run by Jane Brooks and owned by A.A. Lindo. Later, the name was changed to the Brooks Hotel and then, finally, to the Mandeville Hotel. Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Bell first bought the hotel, and subsequently Mrs. Hilda Gray did.

Dr Lannaman purchased the hotel in 1956, and his son William oversaw its operations. The current building was constructed in 1971 to replace the previous ones. The Mandeville Hotel was renowned in its early years for its cuisine, eminent clientele, and events like The Flower Dance Show.

Accommodations were in high demand due to the influx of mostly American and Canadian visitors following the start of the bauxite industry. Mandeville's identity has evolved from that of a "garden town," one of Jamaica's market towns, and an English town with a central square, but it continues to be a great alternative to a beach vacation.

Mark and Ceceline McIntyre bought The Mandeville Hotel in October 1986, and they immediately set about bringing back the old hotel's welcoming ambience. Minor alterations like the redbrick arches and the return of the hotel's fretwork pay homage to the previous hotel's Georgian design.

Dining at Mandeville Hotel

Dining out is always an option however it brings one some amount of comfort knowing that there are dining options available onsite at the hotel they are staying, especially for breakfast! The Mandeville Hotel has two great options.

  • The Arches Restaurant- One of the best places to eat in Mandeville is the Arches Restaurant, which is located poolside at the Mandeville Hotel. The Arches Restaurant is surrounded by the views and sounds of nature thanks to its open-air terrace that looks out onto the poolside and neighbouring gardens. The extensive a la carte menu features traditional Jamaican dishes and original compositions that draw on regional and global flavours. There are dishes to suit a variety of palates, from savoury bisques to tempting desserts. Both day visitors and those staying overnight are welcome at the Arches Restaurant. The Arches Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day.

  • The Manchester Arms Pub- The Manchester Arms Pub offers a large selection of drinks, and when hunger strikes, there are several options for "finger meals”. Their speciality is cocktails; start by ordering the Manchester Arms "Zinger”.

The four distinct function rooms at The Mandeville Hotel can be changed to create the perfect backdrop for your conference or event. These rooms have capacities ranging from 25 to 250 people.
