While a foreigner in a European country if he is from another member state will have the right to vote he cannot be part of the elected bodies in that country.

It is that simple. It may not have come as a surprise to Dr Alexis that he does not have Jamaican nationality. Anytime he passes Norman Manley international airport he is happy that his travel documents will give him access on the other side.

The fact that he has lived in Jamaica many years does not change that He could have chosen to be adopted by his new homeland but he may forfeit his other nationality if dual citizenship is not an option. It is a difficult choice for him.
