How To Order Groceries Online In Jamaica | Top Five Errand and Ecommerce Businesses In My Opinion
by Sheree-Anita Shearer | Associate Writer
Shopping online has become a significant part of our lives in recent times. Gone are the days of long lines and heavy bags to take home.
While ordering groceries online is not a new concept in Jamaica, it wasnโt until the onset of the COVID-19 virus that most Jamaicans began using these platforms.
Many already established companies introduced their customers to online platforms and in true Jamaican fashion, many others saw the opportunity to make it easier for us to do tasks we would otherwise have to leave home to do, their business.
Over the past year even I have had to use these services many times are the top 5 in my opinion.
- Virtual Mart: This e-commerce store gives you the freedom to buy everything from food and household appliances to sporting goods.
The best part for me is that they deliver island-wide! They have a very comprehensive, user-friendly website where you can search for the products you want, add them to your cart and check out and wait patiently on your package to arrive.
You also have the option to pay via debit or credit card on the website or pay via card or cash on delivery. The credit card option however is only available to existing customers. First-time customers must pay via debit card or cash on delivery.
Although delivery is islandwide, they only offer same-day delivery to Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Catherine.
For customers in other parishes, delivery is done once a week so be sure to make your order ahead of time. Though delivery is not free it is super affordable. They also give customers who prefer shopping at the Progressive Grocers group of supermarkets or PriceSmart the option to shop online from the products these companies offer.
Just go to the website and search for the supermarket in your area and you will be able to shop for your favourite products, complete with pictures and accurate prices. In addition to their website, there is also an app available for both androids and iPhones.

- Cool Market: CoolMarket(formally ClickMarket) is the e-commerce section of the Cool Grop of companies and is one of the more established e-commerce businesses in Jamaica.
On Cool Market, you can shop from numerous categories including appliances, electronics, groceries, office supplies and more.
While you donโt have the option to choose from particular sellers, it gives you more variety in the products, that way you can find the most affordable option for you.
It is also a very good website to use when doing bulk orders. Delivery is islandwide, but it can up to 48 hours for your package to arrive, it just depends on how large of an order it is.

- Mailpac ShopClub: Many Jamaicans, have used Mailpac at one point or another when making purchases from overseas online stores.
The ShopClub is a new venture by the business which provides persons on the island to shop locally.
You have the option to get supermarket items, pharmaceuticals, sporting goods and luggage and travel items delivered to you all from the comfort of your home.
You have the freedom to select the delivery date and time that is most convenient for you! This you can do by either checking the delivery schedule for open dates and times or selecting one at checkout.
Mailpac has an Epay Mastercard which can be used to shop online. It can also be used to purchase groceries on the Mailpac ShopClub website.

- CPJ Market: Again, another well established company who launched an online platform.
Caribbean Producers of Jamaica is a well-known manufacturer and distributor, especially in the tourism sector.
They provide their customers with a wide variety of either their own locally manufactured products or international brands.
The website is quite user friendly and the products are included with pictures and prices. With locations both in Kingston and Montego Bay, islandwide delivery is super easy.
Be sure to call to check the cost of delivery for your area as it gets pretty expensive for rural areas. It is important to note that CPJ only fulfils orders of the products they manufacture or sell.

- 876Get: My personal favourite! You can use 876Get for supermarket and pharmacy runs, restaurant pickups, tax office runs, wharf pickups and even moving!
Just creating an account on their website or downloading the app gives you access to the wide variety of services they provide.
For supermarket runs, a driver is assigned to your order. Here's a sweetener, if you prefer a particular supermarket they will go to that location just for you!
You have the option of chatting with the driver via the app in case something is unavailable or unclear or if you would like to add something to the order. They will also, reach out via telephone if necessary.
After the order is completed, the app updates with the cost of the product and you can either pay via card or cash on delivery.
The app keeps you updated every step of the way! The cost of delivery changes depending on the type of errand you would like to do. They are not yet available islandwide however, persons in and around Montego Bay, Mandeville and Ocho Rios can utilize this service.
