Contest Entry #049 - Get Up, Stand Out
I met this old man back in 2012, at a Rastafarian event at Emancipation Park.
I must say, although he wasn’t a part of the afternoon’s line up, he was indeed my favourite performer.
He was the star of the show, not only because of his amazing musical talent, but yuh know how we Jamaicans "nuff" - We must always be seen.
His choice of clothing was rather interesting. He definitely made a fashion statement with his magnificent colour blocking! He made his own little VIP area, right in front the stage.
He placed his seat there, separating himself from everyone else. This became his own personal recording studio.
Bwoy, Jamaican people always stand out. Although he was successful in standing out in the crowd, he fitted in quite well with all the bands and artistes as he could play the tune of every single song they sang.
He missed not one key and he played so passionately. I notice he wore a medal around his neck.
I was told he wore it wherever he went.
He must have won it for his amazing flute playing.
