Negril is a fantastic location for deep-sea fishing. Anglers only need to travel a short distance from the coast to capture blue marlin, mahi-mahi, and yellowfin tuna. It's worthwhile to travel about eight miles out into the open waters in search of a larger variety of fish. Reef fishing is another great option for fishing in Negril and you can look forward to catching grouper, barracuda, amberjack, wahoo, and bonefish. It can be enjoyable to go fishing in Negril, especially if you go with friends or other fishermen.
While it is possible to just rent a boat and go fishing on your own, it might be intimidating if you are unfamiliar with the Negril waters. There are quite a few fishing charters and tours available for you to choose from.

A good way to spend some time and get a taste of the real Jamaica is to do winter fresh traditional fishing & tours off the beach in sunny Negril. A friendly local fisherman named Duke is willing to take tourists out to sea for a full or half-day of thrilling deep-sea fishing for fish like Kingfish, Bonita, Tuna, and other species. Although it is optional, you are welcome to bring your own equipment. To reel in the large fish, Winter Fresh is outfitted with a conventional trolling rig and handlines. Fishing rods are available. You can reserve a boat tour of the Western Jamaican coastal waters, beaches, and islands on Winter Fresh even if you're not a serious fisherman.

Captain Stanley Carvalho and his family are the owners and operators. He began fishing when he was young and has since completed his PADI scuba instructor training. Most of the fishing is offshore trolling. They mainly use Ballyhoo and artificial bait when they troll. For Mahi Mahi, you can also chum and chunk, spin cast around logs, and use weed lines. The fishing is quite consistent throughout the year, with a peak in marlin throughout the fall and winter. From the fall to March, sperm whales in migration can frequently be spotted. All year long, spotted and bottlenose dolphins are common. There are options for 3/4 day, full day, half day, and even charter sharing. All excursions come with refreshments on the boat, fishing gear, and transportation to and from the resort.
