So you have decided to spend some time in Kingston, Jamaica. Whether that’s for business, pleasure, or both (because why not?) it is absolutely a wonderful choice. Our island’s capital city is not your typical choice for a tourist destination even though there is so much to do and experience there.

In terms of accommodations, you won’t find luxury all-inclusive beach resorts as you would in the more tourist-friendly cities of Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril. What you will find instead, is a variety of hotels and guesthouses to choose from, from the small and cosy to the more modern and luxurious. The Christar Villas Hotel in Kingston Jamaica, falls somewhere in the middle and is a great option whether you are spending just a night, a few days or even weeks in Kingston.
Where you lay your head at the end of a day of exploring or conducting business will always be important. Christar Villas offers rooms that are tastefully decorated, simple and comfortable. They offer 5 room types of different sizes, suitable for those travelling alone, with a companion or even with an entire family. They are:
These simply decorated rooms come with a cable TV, a work desk, a private balcony, and a seating space.
One of the perks of Christar Villas Hotel is that they offer free continental breakfast for each guest every morning. There is even room service available if you rather stay in. Of course, the restaurant is open for lunch and dinner as well. Some rooms come with a kitchen with all you will need to prepare your own meals if that’s your preference.
However, being in Kingston which is known to have some of the best restaurants on the island, dining out would be a great option as well. Here are three of my top recommendations for restaurants closeby this Hotel. Only a few minute's drive or walk away.
Chilitos Jamexican Food
Chilitos offers recipes that combine Jamaican and Mexican flavours and are acceptable for vegetarians and meat eaters. Their menu features Mexican foods like quesadillas, burritos, and tacos with Jamaican favourites like ackee, plantains, and jerk chicken as fillings. Along with a wide variety of margaritas to suit every taste, they also offer a number of creative unique cocktails.
Trio
A tranquil bar, lounge, and restaurant with indoor, outdoor, and private dining options. A varied wine selection and menu provide customers with the option to choose dishes they are acquainted with or to try new flavours in hopes of finding new favourites. If a request is made, their inventive chefs are more than happy to produce specialities that are not on the menu.
Jade Garden Restaurant
Offering a warm and unique eating experience for traditional Chinese cuisine, Jade Garden's elegant design seamlessly integrates with the spirit of indoor flora. Peking Duck, Roast Pork, and their distinctive Pimento Steak, which is presented on a sizzling hot platter with infused flavours, are their most popular meals. Customers can also select delicious Cantonese dim meals from an a-la-carte menu.
Remember Christar Villas is not a resort so there is not much to do here. There is a pool if you would enjoy having a swim and cooling down. A fitness centre to get your work out in, and a garden for connecting with nature. There is also a business centre and banquet facilities if you are in need of space for events.
The hotel is actually close to some of Jamaica’s most iconic locations that you must visit.
Devon House- 1.3 km
Our cultural diversity is represented at Devon House Jamaica, a house museum and one of Jamaica's most important national monuments. The 11-acre property has green grass that creates a calming atmosphere and offers an excellent shopping and dining experience for those who indulge. The most well-known store on the Devon House grounds and a well-known brand in Jamaica is Devon House IScream. Another well-liked location on the Devon House grounds is the brick oven, which satisfies the cravings of individuals who enjoy savoury delicacies like freshly baked goods and their enticing ornamental cakes and treats. You can rent a space at the Devonshire that can hold up to 250 people for weddings, fashion shows, exhibits, conferences, and meetings in addition to the stores and museum at Devon House.
Bob Marley Museum- less than 1 km
The legendary reggae singer once resided inside the Bob Marley Museum. Rich memories and priceless mementoes that honour Bob's life and career as an accomplished musician and a great Jamaican are scattered around his home. You will be guided around the grounds, which include the main house, exhibition hall, theatre, gift stores, and the One Love Café, by the amiable, endearing, and knowledgeable guides. For authenticity, every original room has been preserved exactly as it was when Bob lived here.
Hope Gardens- 4 km
On 200 acres in the Ligunaea Plains of the city of St. Andrew, there are the Royal Botanical Gardens, often known as the "Hope Gardens". The majority of the plants and trees, especially the mango and numerous spice species, were originally taken from a French ship that was captured in 1782 as it was sailing from Mauritius to Hispaniola. The Hibiscus elatus (blue mahoe), the national tree of Jamaica, is one of several endangered and exquisite species of tropical plants and trees that may be found at the Royal Botanical Gardens. Poetry readings and band concerts by the Jamaica Military Band are occasionally held at the Hope Gardens.
