Unlike Ocho Rios, with quite a few adventure parks, visiting Montego Bay with kids and finding fun activities for them to do, will take a bit of creativity and planning, depending on their age. Most family-friendly resorts, especially all-inclusive ones, offer a range of fun activities for kids. However, if you are looking to get out and about and see what Montego Bay has to offer, these are my top 10 activities in Montego Bay for kids.

This is on top of my list for multiple reasons. It hits all the marks for a perfect family outing regardless of the ages of the children, from newborns to full-blown adults. There’s the beach for one, and once you stay close to the shore it is shallow enough for children to enjoy with minimal supervision, plus there are always multiple lifeguards on duty.
There are tons of food shops there as well, but you can also choose to bring your own food and drinks. It is spacious, has lots of shelter and the children can basically run free and do as they please.
This is another go-to place for kids in Montego Bay. There’s a variety of arcade games for the kids to play, a tuck shop with snacks and drinks and a dining and casino area upstairs.
Have kids who are fascinated by ghosts? They will love the Rose Hall great house. Built in 1770, this former plantation home is said to be haunted by the ghost of its former mistress, Annie Palmer, also known as the White Witch of Rose Hall. The house is renowned for its eerie legends, making it a popular spot for those interested in ghost stories and history. Nighttime tours are particularly popular for the potential of ghostly encounters and can be downright scary.
Young children are often fascinated by nature and this is a great place for them to explore the beautiful flora and fauna of Jamaica. This serene sanctuary is home to a variety of bird species, including hummingbirds that your children can feed by hand. It’s a peaceful and magical experience, especially if they enjoy bird watching and want to get up close to these beautiful creatures.
Most kids would enjoy getting out into the ocean and seeing all the amazing and colourful creatures below. There are numerous spots around the bay where you can explore coral reefs, swim with tropical fish, and enjoy the underwater scenery. Gear rentals and guided tours are available to enhance your snorkelling experience. Most snorkelling tours are open to children of all ages, and being able to swim is not a requirement.
The Greenwood Great House was once the home of Hersey Barrett, our island's wealthiest landowner in the 18th century. This historic site offers fascinating insights into Jamaica’s past that will certainly intrigue young minds. The house features an on-site museum and a pub where you can relax with a cold drink after your tour. It’s a great option for children maybe 10 and above.
We are known for our natural food and abundance of fresh fruits. Croydon Plantation is a coffee and pineapple plantation that offers guided tours where you and your children can sample fresh sugarcane, pineapple, and Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee. It is located at the base of the Catadupa Mountains, the plantation also serves a delicious barbecued lunch that you would all enjoy.
One of the most popular beaches in Montego Bay, Doctor’s Cave Beach is famed for its clear, calm waters and family-friendly atmosphere. The beach features shallow areas perfect for young children, as well as trampolines and fish swimming close to shore. Facilities include a restaurant, changing areas, and showers.
Experience the thrill of horseback riding combined with the joy of swimming in the Caribbean Sea. These tours take you through scenic countryside trails before you and your horse take a refreshing dip in the ocean. It’s a unique and memorable way to explore Jamaica’s natural beauty. I am sure most teens would enjoy this.
Ras Natango Gallery and Garden is a delightful eco-tourism attraction located in the hills of Montego Bay. This whimsical site features fantasy gardens, fairy villages, exotic animals, and a koi pond. You can choose between self-guided or guided tours to explore this enchanting location. The site also offers a free shuttle service from Montego Bay.
So you don’t have to worry, there’s plenty for your kids to do in Montego Bay Jamaica and they will have an awesome time. Is your budget another concern when it comes to planning a trip to Jamaica?
