Negril is one of the most relaxing towns on the island and it’s for that reason that both locals and visitors flock there ever so often so they can relax and unwind. From a wide variety of accommodations to choose from, restaurants and a plethora of attractions to enjoy, Negril is perfect for anyone who needs an escape.

However, with one of our most fascinating and well-loved attractions on the island being Dunn’s River Falls, and with us having at least 48 known waterfalls, it might be a shock to some that there are no waterfalls in Negril. It may be the one thing that this already perfect resort town is missing.
However, if you have been on the lookout for waterfalls in Negril Jamaica, while you won’t find any in the town, all you need to do is look just a tad bit further.
Here are the four closest waterfalls to Negril, most just about an hour's drive away.
The parish of Westmoreland is home to the ecotourism destination Mayfield Falls. Mayfield Falls is your slice of heaven if you enjoy the outdoors! You will discover two falls, twenty-one minor cascades (the tallest drop is three meters or nine feet), forty-four mineral pools, fifty-two different types of ferns, a profusion of tropical plants and flowers, and a wonderful cacophony of birds, butterflies, and local fauna. With so much to explore, this one is an all-day adventure. Mayfield Falls is around an hour outside of Negril.
In 1992, Ys Falls opened its doors to the public as a natural attraction where tourists may take in the beauty of the waterfalls in their natural setting, a lush park filled with tall trees. When you get to YS Falls you may wonder why there isn’t much insight and that is because the falls are a short scenic ride away from the entrance. Staff members will direct you to the loading station where you will wait on the next available open-air rides that will take you to the falls. Seven waterfall tiers are present, some of which fall into pools of water. Definitely bring your river shoes because certain areas are very rocky.
Around the waterfalls are lush gardens and towering trees. The wide grounds are great for day outings or family picnics. A lovely addition to these are the natural swimming pools supplied by underground and above-ground springs. YS Falls is around an hour and forty minutes from Negril. Most of your time will be spent admiring the breathtaking falls and swimming in the tranquil, spring-fed pool. To provide you with the peace of mind to enjoy the day without concern, lifeguards keep an eye on the swimming areas. You can also stroll around the nearby gardens or ride an exhilarating zip line over the forest canopy at these falls.
Fenton Falls, commonly referred to as the secret falls, is the closest to Negril for travellers wishing to veer off the usual road. The Fentons own the private acreage where the falls sit, which is slightly over an hour's drive from Negril. Hiking through a field dotted with plum and jackfruit trees, which visitors are welcome to sample, leads to the quiet riverwalk. When visitors arrive at the falls, they will see what happens when three rivers come together. As a result, a stream of water is produced that cascades down the steep mountainside, filling numerous ponds along the way. Although locals are aware of Fenton Falls, you won't frequently run into other tourists while you're there.
This family-run attraction is situated in the centre of Westmoreland. On Jamaica's west coast, it is about 27 miles from Negril. It is a family-friendly attraction with seven lovely waterfalls and an incredible blue lagoon. Benta was created with consideration for the environment and with a commitment to protecting the local flora and fauna. They provide both groups and individuals with a campsite. Up to a little knowledge about the beauty surrounding Benta Falls? Join their farm tours that feature local fruits and gorgeous flowers.
Remember these falls are not located in Negril but on average are about an hour's drive away. Don’t worry, the beauty of Jamaica will so enthral you and that hour's drive will feel more like 5 minutes.
These are some of our favourite waterfalls as well, so whenever you are ready for a visit, let us know here and we will get you there.
