Here are some of the Up and Coming Dancehall Artists in Jamaica to look out for:

Skillibeng

Skillibeng's rise to fame has been nothing short of meteoric. Hailing from St. Andrew, Jamaica, this artist is known for his distinctive voice, witty wordplay, and captivating flow. Skillibeng's ability to effortlessly ride various riddims while maintaining his unique sound has endeared him to dancehall enthusiasts globally. With his hit songs "Brik Pan Brik" and "Crocodile Teeth," he has become a driving force in the modern dancehall movement.

Skeng

Skeng is the true embodiment of a Jamaican dancehall rockstar, and it shines in his performances, one of the main reasons why many flock to his shows. Songs like "Little Miss" became such a hit he earned himself a remix featuring the queen of rap, Nicki Minaj. Skeng, like several of his peers in the music business, has developed and adopted a carefree method that enables him to produce hard-hitting, lyric-driven tracks like Brrrp, Ypree, Burna, and Duppy Dem that have so far made a recognisable hardcore body of work.

Valiant

Raheem Bowes, better known by his stage name "Valiant," has had an astounding rise in dancehall. Valiant is not a "new artist," despite his rapid ascension. He was even a member of Popcaan's Unruly faction and had been recording songs for ten years before his big break on TikTok. Since his “Kotch ee hat” video helped him become significantly more well-known, Valiant has made it a point to capitalize on this success by releasing hit after hit with songs such as “Dunce Cheque,” “Narcissistic,” “Speed Off” and “North Carolina.” One of the greatest milestones in a Jamaican artist’s career is gracing the stage of the Reggae Sumfest festival.

Chronic Law

Mark Lawrence, professionally known as Chronic Law, represents the gritty and authentic side of dancehall. Hailing from St. Thomas, Jamaica, this rising star has gained a dedicated following with his raw and unfiltered lyrics that reflect the harsh realities of life in his community. Chronic Law's emotive delivery and storytelling have resonated with listeners worldwide, earning him a spot as one of the most promising new dancehall artists.

Bayka

Ronaldo Billings, better known by his stage name Bayka, is a native of Spanish Town, St. Catherine. Since breaking into the music business in 2021, he has amassed several dancehall-related songs, including Mobstar, Sinna Life, and 1Uptown. The musician became well-known because of his distinctive voice and imaginative songwriting. He stated in an interview that he was aware of the work and faith it will take to realise his aspiration to be a transnational dancehall superstar. His body of work, and wild and carefree persona has definitely made him a hit among the Jamaican youths.

Squash

Coming from Montego Bay, Jamaica, Squash has quickly risen through the ranks of the dancehall scene. His energetic performances and commanding stage presence have earned him a loyal fan base. Squash's ability to effortlessly switch between hardcore dancehall and more melodic styles showcases his versatility and makes him an artist with mass appeal.

Daddy1

Daddy1, born Adrian Bailey, is an artist with a distinctive voice and an engaging flow. Hailing from Montego Bay, Jamaica, he has gained recognition with tracks like "Bro Gad" and "Custom." Daddy1's versatility and ability to effortlessly switch between dancehall and other genres make him a standout artist.

Yaksta

Jamaican musician, producer, performer, and actor Kemaul Martin, aka Yaksta (Bush Lawd), is also an actor. Yaksta has only recently become a musician, but now he is swiftly becoming well-known throughout Jamaica thanks in large part to the success of his tune "Home" and its viral music video. He has created a name for himself and has teamed up with several international producers, so we can expect big things from him.

Moyann

Moyann, born Moyann Montiquet, is a rising dancehall artist known for her sweet yet commanding vocals. Hailing from Montego Bay she has garnered attention with tracks like "Ano My Style" and "Mad Out." Moyann's captivating presence and unique sound set her apart as a promising artist in the dancehall scene.

These are some the up and coming dancehall artists in Jamaica. In many ways the future of the genre is in their hands and we all eagerly look forward to see where they will take it.
