QUESTION about: Replacement Of Jamaican Documents
Hi, I lost my Jamaican birth certificate in addition to all my identifications, especially my USA green card. How do I go about getting a replacement birth certificate? Thanks, Brando
RESPONSE: by WellesleyHey Brando, sorry to hear about your situation, but I can definitely try and help you out.
To get a replacement Jamaican birth certificate, I suggest that you follow these steps:
- Go to the Registrar General's Department (RGD) website, which is www.rgd.gov.jm.
- Look for the section related to APPLICATIONS. I might just say APPLY or APPLY NOW, then look for 'Application for a certified copy of a birth record'.
- You'll likely find an online application form. Fill it out with your personal information as accurately as possible.
Make sure to provide all the required details. You will need the Birth Registration/ Or Entry number, a required field.
It might also ask a question on where you want to pick up.
- You usually don't need to provide any documentation to prove your identity but they will ask questions related to the relationship, the reason for applying, etc.
- Upon submission, there's typically a fee associated with obtaining a replacement birth certificate, including express options. The RGD website should have information on the current fees and how to pay them. Take care of the payment.
- Wait for Processing: Once you've submitted your application and paid the fee, you'll need to wait for the RGD to process your request.
- Collect Your Certificate: Once your replacement birth certificate is ready, you'll be notified (usually). This might involve visiting an RGD office.
Now, regarding your lost USA green card, I suggest that you contact the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) immediately to report it and request a replacement.
They can guide you through the process of getting a new green card.
I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions. Good luck, Brando!
