Born Andre Hugh Sutherland in the parish of Saint Thomas, Popcaan began his musical journey in the late 2000s, gaining recognition as a protege of dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel. He quickly made a name for himself with his unique vocal style and knack for creating catchy hooks that resonate with listeners from all walks of life.

One of Popcaan's earliest breakthrough hits was "Only Man She Want" in 2012.
