Please Join Me In Saluting Our Health And Social Workers #Covid19
by Wellesley Gayle
The last few weeks have be not only rough, but punishing for some, particularly our health care and social workers on the front-line, fighting the deadly COVID-19 virus.
And not only in Jamaica and the US, but across the Caribbean and the rest of the world.
And what is sad is that they typically get very little recognition.
While we (are asked to) stay at home, they are on battlefield, testing, documenting and treating.
This is certainly not something to take for granted.
And I put it to you, its certainly not for the money, it is for the love of the job, the care of people, and the saving of lives.
I've heard some stories, including a taxi man refusing to transport a nurse.
It is an extremely tough time for some of them; in some cases they have to sacrifice their own family, children and grandchildren for the nation's benefit.
And yes, that include student nurses and doctors too who are pulled in.
And so, while we are taking steps to protect and care ourselves, please join me in recognizing their efforts by sharing a comment here.
And it doesn't matter whether or not you know of one, have a family member or friend in the health and social services, they all deserve the recognition!
If you have a name, please state it, and the institution. Please don't wait, do it now here, that could mean the world to him or her.
I'll post as soon as you submit it.
Thanks much!
Regards,
WG
