In times past, there was a lack of interesting things to do on a date on the island. And while we have our own favourite go-to date spots, they didn’t seem that many. Now, however, the options have expanded quite tremendously, offering romantic dinners, helicopter rides and everything in between.

No longer can the finger be pointed at a lack of options, especially in our hip, capital city. What are some places to go on a date in Kingston Jamaica you ask?
Well, that depends on what kind of date it is you are planning, something fun and casual, sporty or elegant and romantic? Either way, there are options for everyone.
Attend a Reggae Concert: As much as we love dancehall parties, it’s not a great environment for dates, especially first dates so my advice… skip the dancehall scene and opt for a nice reggae show or concert. Most reggae shows have the option for you to bring your own chairs and blankets, awesome performances and food and refreshments on sale. The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport organizes numerous reggae events, many of which are free or low-cost, especially during Reggae Month.
Paint and Sip: Paint and Sips are the new in-thing for hanging out with your girls but it makes for a great date night as well. It’s a chance to showcase both of you guys creative sides and even if it’s not your best work, you will be sure to share some laughs because of it. These events are cosy and intimate, providing an excellent opportunity for a relaxing date.
Try Archery at Archery Jamaica: Try something new and unique, test your aim and enjoy a fun challenge at Archery Jamaica at the Jamaica Rifle Association on Mountain View Avenue. Classes are held on Sundays between 8:30 am and 1:00 pm.
Long Story Short: This is another not-so-popular dating choice, but a fantastic one if you ask me. Experience a unique blend of storytelling and live music at Long Story Short, held every last Thursday of the month at Di Lot, 33 Constant Spring Road. This event features eight storytellers sharing true, personal stories under the night’s theme in under five minutes. Additionally, you get to enjoy performances from a musical guest, making it a perfect evening of laughter and entertainment.
Go Go-Karting: Maybe you want something with more thrill, get your blood pumping! So if you are a thrill-seeker, Zoom Karting at the Palisadoes Go-Kart Track offers an exciting experience. Every Sunday from 1 pm to 5:30 pm, you can rent and drive professional go-karts. The cost is about JMD 2000 per person.
Take a Museum Tour: Explore our rich history and art by visiting the Bob Marley Museum, the National Gallery of Jamaica, or the Money Museum at the Bank of Jamaica. Alternatively, join the Kingston Art Walk in Downtown Kingston for a vibrant art experience. Museums are great for dates as you get to converse with your date, and conversations around art pieces can lead to great discoveries about each other.
Make Pottery at Sanaa Studios: Still with the arts, this is another activity that has gotten popular in Jamaica for hanging out with friends or on dates. At Sanaa Studios you can get creative and make and design your very own pottery together. This hands-on activity allows couples to bond while crafting unique pieces to take home.
