Ocho Rios is probably one of the best towns in Jamaica for vacation, in my opinion. It’s the perfect mixture of chill and adventure. The people are laid back and eager to help. But the best part is even though you have the more popular spots like Dunns River Falls and Dolphin Cove, there are some hidden gems tucked away that will offer you privacy and tranquillity. The Pearly Beach is one of them.

You see, Pearly Beach offers a truly tranquil escape. It’s a crescent-shaped beach with beautiful turquoise water and a white sandy beach. The is said to be approximately 500 meters long, and its shallow waters are perfect for swimming and snorkelling.
As I mentioned before Pearly Beach is more of a hidden gem, so you will find that the atmosphere is more peaceful and quiet. The beach's natural beauty, combined with the turquoise water, creates a serene environment for visitors to relax and unwind.
Though certainly not a major or popular beach, it boasts a range of facilities to enhance your visit. There are Lifeguards are on duty for added safety, and there are clean bathroom facilities available. The beach is also wheelchair accessible, which makes it convenient for visitors with mobility challenges. Additionally, the nearby parking lot is free and located directly across from the beach, making it easy to access.
Pearly Beach is great if you are looking for a quiet spot for a family or friend beach fun day where you bring your own activities with you. You can play a game of beach volleyball, or football, go snorkelling, have picnics and so much more fun stuff.
It's located near several major attractions. Most notably, Dunn's River Falls, one of our most famous natural landmarks, is just a short drive away. For a bit of adventure, you can also head to Mystic Mountain or Dolphin Cove for a chance to zip-line or swim with dolphins. The beach’s location also provides convenient access to several restaurants, including Margaritaville, which offers a mix of Jamaican and international cuisine.
The beach is generally well-maintained, and although like most beaches, some small plant debris is occasionally found on the shore, it's quickly cleaned up, leaving the area looking pristine. The presence of lifeguards and medical staff ensures that safety is a top priority, allowing visitors to fully relax while enjoying the beach.
1. Shoreline Incline: One of the minor drawbacks of Pearly Beach is the slight incline at the shore, which some visitors may find a bit awkward, particularly when wading in the water. While not a dealbreaker, it’s something to keep in mind, especially if you're looking for a perfectly level entry into the sea.
2. Small Beach Size: While Pearly Beach offers a beautiful setting, it's relatively small, measuring just over 100 meters in length. For those seeking a vast, expansive beach, this could feel a bit limiting, especially on busier days when the space is crowded with visitors. However, the smaller size does contribute to its intimate, laid-back vibe, which many find appealing.
3. Limited Beachfront Development: While the beach offers the essentials, there aren't as many food and beverage options directly on the sand compared to other more tourist-heavy locations. You'll need to head to nearby restaurants for meals, which, depending on your preferences, could be a slight inconvenience.
Pearly Beach holds a bit of cinematic history, as it is rumoured that scenes for the iconic James Bond film Dr. No were filmed at this very beach. This adds a touch of intrigue to the already stunning location, making it a must-see for fans of the legendary spy films.
So if you are planning on vacationing in Ocho Rios, definitely give Pearly Beach a visit. Especially if you are looking for somewhere secluded and peaceful. Admission for the Pearly Beach is $1000 for adults and $500 for children (ages 4-12).
