This might have been true years ago but fortunately for those who love a flash of luxury but also the offerings of the capital city, the hotels in the area have seen some serious upgrades and now there are quite a few that are a marvel to behold. So, if you are looking for a luxury hotel in the capital city of Jamaica, these are your options.
This hotel, which is situated in the downtown arts district, has views of the Kingston Waterfront and Harbor. The Jamaica Conference Center is two streets away, while the National Gallery of Jamaica is directly across the street.
You won't be far from the Norman Manley International Airport either, it is only 16 kilometres away. The hotel has a sleek modern exterior, a minimalistic style that carries throughout the hotel.
The hotel places a strong emphasis on mobility and accessibility, so all public areas and specially designed rooms are fully accessible. The amenities include:
The Bob Marley Museum is 2 km away, the National Gallery of Jamaica is 7 km away, and Norman Manley International Airport is 19 km away from this elegant hotel in the city's heart. Free Wi-Fi and smart TVs are included in the sleek, spacious rooms' vibrant artwork, which also comes with minifridges, tea and coffeemakers, and safes. Modern rooms come with kitchenettes. The 1- and 2-bedroom suites (some with balconies) come with living rooms. Free secure parking is available. A cafe and a pool are located on a rooftop terrace. Additionally, there is a meeting room, a gym, and a restaurant/bar with a jazz theme.
Airy, elegant rooms with flat-screen TVs, minifridges, tea and coffee-making amenities, and some with sofa beds come with free Wi-Fi. Room upgrades include balconies. Living spaces are distinct in suites.
Parking is uncharged. A gym, an outdoor pool with a bar, and a breezy tapas bar with a breakfast buffet are also available. Meeting rooms and coin-operated laundry facilities are additional features.
The Bob Marley Museum houses biographical displays in the musician's old home and is 2 kilometres from this upscale hotel on 2 hectares of forested land. The Hope Botanical Gardens are 4 km away, while Norman Manley International Airport is 17 km away.
When I think of the Spanish Court Hotel, I think of old-school luxury and charm, a classical sophistication. This is one of the original luxury hotels of Kingston, before the more sleek contemporary style hotels, but it still is an excellent option today.
This elegant hotel is housed in a Spanish Colonial-style structure in the heart of Kingston, 1.9 kilometres from the Bob Marley Museum and 7 kilometres from the National Gallery of Jamaica. Complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, iPod/iPhone docks, minibars, and coffeemakers are all features of opulent rooms and suites. Separate living areas are added to some units.
Under-11s stay free when accompanied by an adult. Parking and breakfast are also free. There is a laid-back cafe/bistro filled with local art along with a rooftop infinity pool and bar. The sundeck, a gym, and a day spa are further features.
The modest rooms have dark wood furnishings, including complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minifridges, and coffeemakers. Upgraded accommodations offer sitting areas and access to a private lounge, and some rooms have balconies.
There are separate living spaces in the 1- and 2-bedroom suites, and some feature kitchenettes. 24/7 room service is offered. Parking and breakfast are also free. There are two bars, a cafรฉ, and a casual restaurant.
There are also two tennis courts, a gym, an outdoor pool, and a spa. This premium hotel is 3 miles from the Bob Marley Museum and is located across the street from Emancipation Park.
You will find that most have the hotels on this list have a lot in common, most are within close commute to vital attractions in the city, and they have essential features and amenities such as gyms, pools, meeting rooms and more.
What separates them is what I like to describe as modern versus classical luxury, and all it comes down to design and your preferred taste.
