It was founded with the express purpose of promoting group savings and lending money to Jamaica Constabulary Force members. Through specialised products created with their financial needs in mind, the Credit Union's mission is still to help its members improve their financial situation and realise their goals.
The East Street Police Station canteen's small room was where the Credit Union's first office was located. With the Movement expanding and the membership rising quickly, JPCCU relocated its sole operational office to Elleston Road.
After being moved to Hope Road, the office was later moved back to Elleston Road. After operating for many years at the Elleston Road location, it became necessary to provide more comfort to their expanding membership base, which led to the purchase of its office space at Church Street, a building that was entirely funded by the Credit Union's surplus.
Today, JPCCU manages assets worth more than $6 billion and has more than 22,000 members, making it the seventh-largest credit union in Jamaica. For more than 60 years, the Jamaica Police Co-operative Credit Union has helped thousands of members obtain various assets, including homes, cars, and financial independence.
JPCCU has been a shining example in helping to significantly raise the general standard of living of its Members and their families. They have a proud and admirable history of success and are confident that they can continue to do so.
Members collectively own the Jamaica Police Co-operative Credit Union, which is managed by a member-elected Board of Directors in charge of setting policy. Along with other subcommittees, the Supervisory and Credit Committees play a significant role in directing the formulation of standards and policies.
Their valued members and their families are supported by a group of competent, committed, and professional staff who take great pride in enabling them socially and financially. The devoted Team Members are shareholders in the Credit Union as a result of being depositors and Team Members.
District Constables, current and former members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, employees of the Ministry responsible for the Police, staff members who are permanently employed by the JPCCU, as well as members of the Credit Union and their families (parents, siblings, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, children, cousin, grandchildren and grandparents).
Being a part of a reliable organisation in Jamaica, not a single credit union member has ever lost money they had ended up saving. In addition to that, members also have ownership stake in the credit union and an equal voice in decision-making.
Each member has the right to participate in the A.G.M. and offer an opinion on any issue that is being debated. Each member also has one vote, just like everyone else.
