Letโs dive into the chaos of day 3.
Menโs 100m Heats
First up was the menโs 100m heats which started our day off tremendously. Kishane Thompson won his heat with a time of 10.00s, Oblique Seville won his heat with a time of 9.99s and Akeem Blake came in second in his heat with a time of 10.06s. All three will now represent Jamaica in the menโs 100m semi-finals on August 4th.
Menโs Shot Put
Rajindra Campbell is the first Jamaican to qualify for the shotput final since Rio 2016. In the Menโs Shotput finals, he made history when claimed bronze to become Jamaica's first Olympic medallist in the Men's shot put, ultimately giving us our first medal for the Paris Olympic Games 2024.
Mixed 4x400m Relay Finals
Team Jamaica finishes 6th in the 4x400m mixed relay final with a time of 3:11.67! The team featured Reheem Hayles, Junelle Bromfield, Zandrion Barnes, and Stephenie Ann McPherson.
Womenโs Triple Jump
With a season-best jump of 14.87 meters, Shanieka Ricketts won silver in the triple jump, becoming the first Jamaican female triple jumper to medal in an Olympic competition!
Ackelia Smith who also completed, placed seventh with a best jump of 14.42m.
Womenโs 50m Swimming Freestyle Heats
Representing team Jamaica, Sabrina Lyn finished fifth in the Women's 50m Freestyle heat 7 with a time of 26.08 seconds and did not advance to the semi-finals.
Womenโs 800m Repechage Heat
Adelle Tracey finished fifth in heat 2 of the womenโs 800m with a time of 2:03.67, just barely missing her opportunity to participate in the semi-finals.
Womenโs 100m semi-finals
Our 19-year-old rising star athlete, Tia Clayton won the womenโs 100m semi-finals with a time of 10.89 and secured her spot in the final! On the other hand, Shashalee Forbes, finished 6th in her semi-final with a time of 11.20s and did not advance to the finals.
Womenโs 100m Finals
Despite her tremendous win in the semi-finals, Tia Clayton finished the finals in 7th place with a time of 11.04s.
To the distraught of many Jamaicans, our Two-time Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce withdrew from the 100m semi-finals. In a video circulating social media, she was seen on the outside of the warm-up venue at the Olympic Games complaining about being denied access. Fraser-Pryce explained in the video that officials at the gate informed them of a change in entry rules for the training facility, requiring them to use the general entrance.
She was listed as DNS (Did Not Start) due to unspecified reasons for the womenโs 100m semi-finals, which led to her withdrawal from the event just before it commenced. It was later said that during her warm-up session, she sustained a hamstring injury.
Gold: 0

Here are some interesting moments caught by camera of our team on Day 3 of us participating at the Paris Olympics games.
Here is what social media had to say to our athletes on day 3.
Joy T Stephen: "Respect to you mommy rocket!! You've represented your country and the Caribbean well over many years!! We appreciate you!!! ๐๐๐"
Karlene Gayle: "Thompson, then Shericka, now Shelly. We can only speculate. But let's pray that they all are physically and mentally healthy. Whatever their reasons are it is their decisions. Bless up."
Dwizzyxy: "@realkevinrobinson he had a foul on his final throw. He was so close to that silver medal though. Overall, he did well."
Terrificterryg: "Love this for him..Well done..History๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฏ"

Sandra Murray: "I wished all the runners had the ability as Stephanie. She ran her heart out. Congratulations to them anyway. They still tried their best. ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ"

Wray Sheppy: "We appreciate your valiant effort and will continue to support you Adelle Tracey congratulations again."
Day 3 was a lot and very emotional for team Jamaica. Admittedly we had some highs and some lows but we are ultimately very proud of our athlete's performance. I think for most of us the biggest disappointment was simply not medalling in the womenโs 100m. Tia is very young and she represented us well in the race, but we are even more so heartbroken that Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce was unable to compete. This was Shellyโs last year at the Olympic games and we were all looking forward to seeing her bring it, as she usually does.
With that being said we are excited for our wins so far, especially for Rajindra Campbell and Shanieka Ricketts as they made history for us by giving us our first medals in Shotput and Triple Jump at the Olympic games.
Coming day 4, August 4th, I am looking forward to seeing what our men do in the 100m semi-finals and finals.
