OF COURSE MARIJUANA SHOULD BE LEGAL IN JAMAICA, is that a rhetorical question?
It is the perfect place to grow it. The weather is perfect for marijuana growing, but it shouldn't only be legal in Jamaica, it should be legal everywhere.
It is a harmless drug and it should be used as a medicinal purpose also.

I think we should respect the ways of Rastafarians. It is how they live, and even before them it is how people in Jamaica lived. It's their land, give them freedom.

I was planning a trip to Jamaica until I found out Cannabis it is still illegal, I don't want to be hassled by cops especially on my vacation.

Smoking weed is like owning a gun, its legal for some but not for others. Responsible people should be allowed to smoke it if they want to.

I think it should be legalized all over the world not just Jamaica.
I’m not a smoker but know a lot of people who do and I am a regular visitor to Jamaica and if some of those guys living in the garrisons didn’t have the comfort of the ganja................
I shall say no-more.
Peace.

About 7 or 8 years ago the Canadian government began the motions to legalize marijuana but was halted because the US government threatened to stop trade.
This all came about after Health Canada released an extensive report on the effects of long term use, which are far less detrimental to your body than say alcohol.
So we're in the same place here except we only get tickets for possession - 1oz and under. The truth is that it should be legal everywhere, legalization is good for the people (takes money away from gangs), it's good for the government (Taxable) and it's less harmful than what's already available (cigarettes and Alcohol).
There's a documentary I saw a few years back called "The Union: The Business Behind Getting High" check it out, it's a good movie for both people against legalization and those that are for legalization.

At least in the states (I'm not sure about Jamaica or Canada) marijuana is legal. If you have a club card or other identification that says it's legal for u to have/smoke ganja you are OK.
I know a few of my friends have club cards and they go to the club and buy their own weed whenever they want.

To tell you my opinion I think that it should be legal everywhere.
It doesn’t really harm your body that much. Think about all the other drugs that people do. Like take alcohol for an example, people get completely wasted on that; make bad decisions, and then wake up to a hangover.
As for when you smoke weed, you get high, then a little hungry, and that’s it. It’s a plant. It just grows like that, and if you happen to set it on fire there are some effects.
I just wish the law would stop spending so much time on trying to catch people doing drugs (which weed is NOT a real drug in my opinion) and they need to spend more time finding killers, and people who actually are real criminals.
There you have it.

If marijuana was made legal, wouldn't the government just stick a load of tax on it eventually?
It would be nice to walk past a copper with a phat biff, but not nice paying a hefty amount to get some.

I say to legalize it, let the poor rise up and make some money growing ganja and let the rich make more money by having more tourists come to Jamaica and spend money.

Marijuana is a great contribution to this world. Not only for spiritual experiences and recreational thoughts but most of all, its the only thing that cures my horrendous stomach problem.
I HATE the government for not realizing they are taking away a given right, and causing me pain.

Yes I think weed should be legal in Jamaica, even if it’s not in the U.S.
It maybe bad to some people, but to others it can help them so much, and I wish that the U.S. would legalize it.

It’s awesome and I enjoy it much more than alcohol...even though it’s illegal.
I find it much easier to get hold of than alcohol as well.
But in all seriousness, marijuana gives you the munchies which is in fact the single best thing in the world when you have enough food!

I think that marijuana (weed) should be legalized everywhere!
Its fun and I’ve never heard of anyone getting hurt because they smoked it before.
So I mean what’s the harm in it?
I do it :) and all my friends do too. It’s fun.
So yes, I think it should be legalized in Jamaica and everywhere else.

I mean like why not it is not that harmful if u smoke 2-3 times a week.
My friend smokes weed and he was in fkn Harvard which was spectacular, but if you increase the dosage of weed it doesn’t kill u it only makes u stupid, it decreases the brain cells in u, and so takes u longer to figure out something that takes an infant 5 mins to realize but u probably 3-4 hours to realize.
I know that because I have experience it first hand I got kicked out of school and it ruined my skateboard and snowboard career at that point I had nothing so I started to do meth and cocaine which was hell of a lot worse so my family and friends helped me to stop that sh**and I did, I cleaned up went to rehab.
I am now an intern in medical school and I also teach little kids skateboard, but I still smoke weed till this day but just a little dosage which I love and probably will never quit.
So I say smoke weed in an alright dosage and if it will be legal just smoke it in an safe area where nobody can sniff the weed that don’t want it.
my fav things:
2# weed
1#skateboard
So I say legalize marijuana

Not just in Jamaica, but around the world how can god grown plant be a drug?
A drug is normally made in labs with chemicals not grown from the earth.

You and I know weed is illegal in the USA, and it’s because if they tax it we can just grow it anywhere, but seriously, come on what is bad about weed when you smoke.
Like a pipe it’s like smoking three cigarettes but then it helps arthritis and cancer, and you don’t see any violence off smoking weed, just peace
This is Stein from the national democracy of the international PCP saying my part of how we need weed.

The government cannot control this plant, which can grow everywhere anyway.
All prohibition does is cause violence via the drug trade. Cartels get 60% of their income from marijuana, but if it was legal the government would get money from taxes, and it would have money to help those with addiction (pot doesn't usually cause physical dependence anyway).
It can't be overdosed on either. It should be legal.

I believe that if marijuana is being used by religious groups in Jamaica that it should not be illegal.
Catholics drink wine in religious ceremonies, and Rastafarians smoke Cannabis.
I think that we should all learn to live with the way others want to worship, and celebrate our cultural differences. Marijuana is probably the most commonly found mind altering substance in the world, but with less chance of dependency than nicotine or even alcohol,
Jamaicans should have the right to practice their religion freely, as long as they do not operate vehicles or machinery while under the influence of the religious plant.

legalize ganja in jamaica
Here's Jamaica's chance for beating economic morosity.
Legalize and provide government controlled stores where tourists can buy good quality ganja.
Rather than going to Amsterdam, many ganja tourists will head to Jamaica including myself for ganja related vacations.
Also, make it safe for tourists and provide good opportunities to visit farms where ganja is cultivated and exchange with the local people and develop friendships.
Here's your chance Jamaica. Don't let it pass away.
Do something Jamaicans. The rest of the world is waiting for you to take the initiative!!!!

Why shouldn't weed be legal in Jamaica?
At the very least it should be decriminalized the way it is in Amsterdam. Not being able to smoke a spliff in the one most beautiful places in the world is shameful.

To me cannabis is not as harmful as alcohol or cigarettes, and is not really classified as a drug.
Cannabis is a herb. To me a drug is something that is chemically altered, so therefore I say yes cannabis should be legalized in JAMAICA.

I think that marijuana should be illegal. But most people don't follow the laws in Jamaica because no one enforces them.

Yes, Because marijuana is a tool used to do many things, its not just a drug like nicotine, which is legal, you can make rope out of it. Rope is a tool, is rope illegal.
Yes you can smoke it, but you aren't forced to.
and besides that alcohol is legal and its a healthy drug, if used properly.
Marijuana creates oxygen.
In my opinion it's just a plant like tobacco or hops. All plants have multiple uses, It depends on how you use it whether or not its good for you.
If a pine tree caused you to see clowns or feel "high" would they ban it, pine trees are the fastest growing trees and are used for many reasons, like paper, or pencils, or even for building houses.
ITS JUST A PLANT. Like all the others.

Marjuana itself has official been proven as of a few months ago that it CURES CANCER. extremely heavy use is linked to increased rate of brain cell production, which i myself can vouch for.
just smoking it relieves many symptoms of many different illnesses, from the common cold to , as well as nearly curing many mental disorders such as uncontrollable anger, depression, or anxiety.
THESE ARE ALL PROVEN FACTS. if only more people had the ability to not be lazy and simply believe everything they are told, and instead did research for themselves. legalization and regulation could very well help the economy by reducing crime rates and drastically increasing Jamaica's income, and the income of any country in fact. Not only should it be legalized in jamaica, IT SHOULD BE LEGALIZED AND REGULATED IN EVERY COUNTRY AND REMOVED FROM ANY NEGATIVE INTERNATIONAL LAWS.
