"Where can I find direct flights to Negril Jamaica"?

That question appears to be a very popular one for many 'to be' visitors to Jamaica - and Negril in particular, and so, yours truly is taking the opportunity to answer that question right now.

So here is the answer:

At this time, and probably not in the immediate future, there are no flights commercial flights that goes directly to Negril, Jamaica,  but trust me, no worries, there are many options, read on...

So although there is currently no direct flights to the "capital of leisure" in Jamaica, that does not stop a significant number of the over 1 million visitors to Jamaica from going to Negril every single year!

In fact, from arrival in Montego Bay, Negril has the largest number of visitors leaving the MBJ airport, going anywhere else outside in Jamaica!

So it couldn't be that difficult right?

Here Are Your Options

  1. OPTION 1:

Fly into to Montego Bay's Donald Sangster International Airport (Airport code, MBJ) and then get a shuttle to Negril. Approximately 1 hour 20 minutes.

  2. OPTION 2:

Fly into the Norman Manley International Airport (Airport Code, KIN) in capital city Kingston and then get a shuttle (taxi) to Negril. Approximately 4 hours.

For a list of the major airlines that flies to Jamaica, click here.

Note that many of the hotels, especially the all inclusives in Negril, offers free (or already included packaged deals that include) shuttle to Negril.

If not, you can always simply charter a cab directly outside the airport and have they take you down.

Just look for the authorized airport taxi operators.

These are independent companies that have members forming an organization of taxi drivers that operate from the airports and cruise ports JUTAMaxi Tours, and JCAL easily comes to mind.

They have been working in the tourism industry for years and have been very reputable.

You will notice that many of the drivers are older too and such would know the ins and out of the attractions. They have visible desks and banners at the airports.

By the way, I have a personal friend, Roxann, who with her husband Rocky, operates Rocky's Transport and Tours. Click on that link to learn more about them. They a very professional and reasonably priced airport transfers as well. And they are also based in Negril.

  3. OPTION 3:

domestic airlines in jamaicaFlights To Negril Jamaica Via Domestic Airlines

If you are arriving to Negril from overseas (outside of Jamaica), a third option is to fly into either of those two commercial airports in Jamaica (Kingston or Montego Bay) and then have one of the domestic airlines, Airlink Express or TimAir Limited, take you to beautiful Negril!

I think AirLink charge about 140USD from Montego Bay to Negril (at the time of writing this).

And they have flights on the hour - almost every hour throughout the day, taking just about 12 minutes to get there!

And by the way, these domestic carriers doesn't only provide airlifts to Negril, they also do Ocho Rios and Port Antonio, to and from Kingston and Montego Bay!

Here are the aerodromes served from both Kingston and Montego Bay today:

  1. Tinson Pen aerodrome, located in Kingston
  2. Ken Jones Aerodrome located in Port Antonio, Portland
  3. Boscobel's Ian Flemming Aerodrome, located in Ocho Rios, and the
  4. Negril Aerodrome in Westmoreland

And by the way, I just learned that TimAir is now flying to the southcoast - to Treasure Beach at the Lionel Densham Airstrip!

That should be great news to those who are in love with the beautiful southcoast of Jamaica!
