Ever heard of Club Ambiance Runaway Bay?
It’s a small, 86 room, cozy, all-inclusive, adult-only resort in Runaway Bay, Jamaica; that’s just about 60 minutes drive east of Montego Bay, or 25 minutes west of Ocho Rios.
New! Take a piece of Jamaica with you💃!

It is very easy to speed pass without even noticing or caring much about the hotel sign, but when you get inside, like us, you’ll realize the soulful beauty of the place.
I had the pleasure of spending our second wedding anniversary there earlier this month and absolutely loved it!
Now I understand their
tagline “Lazy, Lively and Sexy”.
I was very impressed by the captivating sceneries- especially overlooking the sea from our balcony and from the beach areas, but I was awed by the spanking cleanliness of the resort; our room for sure, but also the general property.
Fortunately (or unfortunately?) we arrived during the down season, so there wasn’t much participation in the day type guest’s activities.
But we didn’t mind; on the first day we took part in the few on offer and complimented them with some of the many other table games they have.
Games for us started at the pool table. This was possibly the third time I played any sort of pool, so it was all about learning, but I still bettered my wife who was probably too tipsy to hold the pool stick, more so to hit the balls :- )
We also threw a few darts before checking out the grill and then took up residence by the coconut bar!
And by the way, that was indeed one of the highlights of our visit. Kerrisha, the bartender, was a real gem, very down to earth, friendly and real.
Food was great too; both dinner and breakfast! I think they really make a big effort putting quality into it the meals.
We had a typical Jamaican breakfast - ackee and salftish baby :-)
And when I quizzed one of the staff he did indicate that they do offer at least one Jamaican meal per day!
In addition to a large dining room, they have a grill that serves a wide array of in-between meal snacks and sandwiches, including Jerk Chicken, burgers, chicken wings, wraps etc. Club Ambiance has 4 open-air bars and 2 restaurants. The Terrance Grill serves seafood and steak. The Café Calypso is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves theme buffets.
Love the 'waters', as we say in Jamaica, then you'll appreciate the fact that they have five (5) bars, The Main Bar, Legend Bar, Pool Bar, Disco Bar and Ocean Club Bar.
They offer three categories of rooms; standard, superior and deluxe.
Most rooms offer the standard room amenities that comes with this type of accommodation:
The hotel boast three (3) small private beaches, beautifully adorned with thatched sunshades and lounge chairs.
Many of the standard water sports activities, eg. Snorkeling, kayaking etc, are supported. Others (eg. Deep Sea fishing) can be arranged with the guest services desk.
But there is a gorgeous swimming pool towards the north if you prefer to take it slower.
And by the way, they also boast a gorgeous Jacuzzi (opens up to 1:00AM) where you can refresh and rejuvenate - mind, body and soul.
I observed a multitude of table games including, pool, chess, Shuffleboard, Paddle Tennis & Darts but entertainment coordinators also arrange daily fun and exciting activities for guests, including aerobics, pool exercises etc. (we experienced 'mixology'), but there is also a disco that opens nightly from 11pm.
Oh, and by the way, they also have a gym for those who want to stay fit or ensure that they remove those calories they will packing on with all that food :-)
Did I tell you about the folks here? Actually yes, I think I did so above when I mentioned Kerrisha (from the Bar).
But yes, they are sincerely warm and helpful. 'Mama' the older lady chef (below) is the epitome. Merissa, Delisa, Dwight and Ms. Frater were all very accommodating to us too; Yes, we got the names :-)
The resort has been under new management, ORH Resort Management Limited, since June 1, 2012 so even greater things are to come.
The hotel is led by Jag Mehta (General Manager) and Gilbert Blackwood (Resort Manager)

Club Ambiance is not (yet) a five star resort but in my estimation, the cleanliness and quality of food, plus the openness, sociability and friendliness of the staff are what sets them apart.
It is also a low budget all-inclusive resort so that doesn't hurt, does it? :-)
