When it comes to entertainment for kids, Kingston has very different offerings, when compared to other tourist hubs like Negril, Ocho Rios or Montego Bay. The city is packed with exciting and educational experiences that cater to children of all ages. Whether they love animals, outdoor adventures, or thrilling games, Kingston has something to offer. Here are some of the best places to take kids in Kingston Jamaica, in my opinion.

First on the list is Devon House, because it is a must-see! A day at Devon House will give your kids a mix of history, fun, and indulgence. This 19th-century mansion is a historic site and a family favourite. The kids can explore the expansive green lawns, perfect for running, playing tag, or flying kites.
When it’s time to cool down, they can head to the famous Devon House I-Scream shop. With flavours ranging from tropical mango to classic rum and raisin, everyone in the family is bound to find a favourite. The property also has charming shops selling souvenirs, local crafts, and baked treats like patties and pastries that the kids will love. Don’t forget to take a guided tour of the historic mansion!
For a mix of nature and wildlife, the Hope Gardens and Zoo are an unbeatable combo.
Hope Gardens: This sprawling botanical garden is a serene retreat in the bustling city. Kids can explore winding pathways, admire vibrant flowers, and even spot butterflies fluttering about. The pond area is a big hit with children, who love feeding the ducks and watching fish swim. Bring along a picnic blanket and snacks to enjoy a meal outdoors while the kids play on the grassy lawns.
Hope Zoo: A visit to Hope Zoo adds an exciting educational twist to your family outing. Kids can see a wide range of animals, including exotic species like zebras, lions, monkeys, and colorful macaws. The zoo is designed with children in mind, featuring interactive enclosures and guided tours that teach them about animal habitats and conservation. It’s a wonderful way to inspire a love for wildlife and the environment.
If your kids are bursting with energy, Coco Jam is the place to go! This entertainment centre in Barbican Centre has been a family favourite for years. With more than 35 arcade games, there’s something for kids of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers.
Younger kids can explore the jungle gym play area, complete with slides and climbing structures, while older ones can challenge themselves in the high-tech laser maze or compete on racing simulators. Coco Jam also features exciting rides and a clean, friendly environment where as a parent you can relax while your kids have fun. It’s the ultimate spot for birthday parties, group outings, or a spontaneous day of entertainment.
A green oasis in the heart of Kingston, Emancipation Park is perfect for families who want to enjoy the outdoors. The wide-open spaces provide the ideal setting for flying kites, kicking a soccer ball, or simply letting the kids run free.
There's the iconic Redemption Song statue that offers a great photo opportunity, while the peaceful ambience makes this park a favorite for family picnics or an evening stroll.
Located in historic Port Royal, the Fort Charles Marine Lab is both fun and educational. The highlight for kids is the interactive touch tank, where they can handle marine creatures like starfish, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers.
For adventurous families, the lab also offers guided snorkeling tours in the calm, protected waters nearby. Kids can explore colorful coral reefs, see fish up close, and learn about the importance of marine conservation.
Step into the future with VR WORLD Jamaica, the island’s first virtual reality lounge. It’s a tech lover’s dream, offering a variety of virtual reality experiences that transport kids to different worlds.
The younger ones will love the VR-powered roller coasters and family-friendly games, while older kids can enjoy thrilling motor racing simulations and space-themed adventures like the Dark Mars simulator.
It’s not just about entertainment; VR WORLD is also a fantastic way to introduce kids to cutting-edge technology in a fun and engaging environment.
The best part is, these are activities that you can also enjoy with your kids!
