Hi again,

Greetings my friend. This is certainly going to be a enthralling weekend in Jamaica!

We probably can safely say this weekend, into next week, is traditionally the most exciting time of the year for us, seriously -loads of fun and excitement!

There is the ATI Weekend in Negril, the Emancipation and Independence celebrations, the annual dancehall queen competition, the Denbigh Agricultural Show, the Bath Breadfruit festival and a whole lot more!

I have much of this to share with you. And of course, I'll dear not miss all the latest happenings on your favourite little Jamaican website either.

Yes, lot's to share with you this time.

  • ...that Jamaica was the only place in the world that considered the fruit of the Ackee tree edible?

    Also known as Blighia Sapida, it is the national fruit of Jamaica. Ackee was imported from West Africa, and it is believed to have arrived in Jamaica via a slave ship.

  • ...that the islands of Turks & Caicos and the Cayman Islands were dependencies of Jamaica?

    This they were until Jamaica became independent in 1962. Then they reverted to the charge of Britain. Jamaica however, still assisted in Judicial and police matters when invited.
