Contest Entry #055- Jamaica Land Crabs and panic attacks
Upon my arrival to Jamaica, I found a lot of things to be new to me.
The discovery of a giant crab in my l room was certainly one of those new experiences! I was very frightened when I saw that crab (momentarily thinking…..giant spider?)
Unsure of where this creature had come from and what to do, I enlisted the help of my friendly neighbor!
I was new to the neighborhood and this was an event that actually brought me close to a handful of my neighbors, as we all got a good laugh out of my land crab panic attack.
In just moments, the crab was grabbed up (and cooked) by my neighbor.
Little did I know, this was only the beginning of land crab season as I encountered many more over the next rainy month.
I’ve even learned how to cook one now (still haven’t learned how to catch them myself!) and they are quite tasty.
