Planning your trip to Jamaica in March? Thatโ€™s awesome because you have chosen a great time to visit.

Here are 5 reasons why I think visiting Jamaica in March is a fantastic idea.

And, if you ever need a trustworthy and knowledgeable local guide, consider booking a private tour with us!

1. Ideal Weather

It gets a bit warmer in Jamaica during March, especially compared to February, making it the perfect time to enjoy outdoor activities and explore the island. Temperatures usually average between 75ยฐF to 85ยฐF (24ยฐC to 29ยฐC) and there is minimal rainfall. So you can bask in the sunshine, swim in crystal-clear waters, and enjoy as many outdoorsy activities as you wish, whether it's hiking through the Blue Mountains, snorkelling along vibrant coral reefs, or zip-lining through tropical rainforests.

2. Spring Break Atmosphere

While Spring Break is more of an American thing, the tourism sector in Jamaica has welcomed it with open arms. March is a popular time for spring break vacations, so if you are a young traveller and party-goer looking for fun and excitement, we got you covered. We have some major parties and events in Jamaica you would enjoy, but not only that many major all-inclusive resorts usually have extravagant parties scheduled during spring break.

3. Eclectic Cuisine

Our cuisine is as eclectic as our people. Itโ€™s a melting pot of flavours influenced by African, Indian, European, and indigenous Taino cultures. You can indulge in mouthwatering dishes such as jerk chicken, curried goat, and fresh seafood at local eateries, street food stalls, and food festivals throughout the island.

4. Warm Hospitality

We are known for our warm hospitality and friendly demeanor, making you as a visitor feel welcome and at home during your stay. Whether it's chatting with locals, sampling homemade dishes at family-owned restaurants, or learning traditional dances, you can experience the genuine warmth and hospitality of Jamaican culture firsthand.

5. Exciting Events

And finally, the best part about visiting Jamaica in March? All the great events you can attend. Here are a few you should consider:

**Jamaica Kennel Club Dog Show - March 10**

For a family-friendly outing, you should head to the Jamaica Kennel Club Dog Show, where adorable canines take centre stage. You will witness some of Jamaica's finest breeds strut their stuff in a display of elegance and charm. With activities for all ages, it's a paw-some day out for dog lovers and families alike.

**BRT Weekend - March 1 - 10**

Ocho Rios comes alive with the pulsating beats of BRT Weekend, a beachside music festival designed to ignite your senses. Why not join the party-goers for a weekend of sun, sea, and non-stop entertainment along our enchanting shores. Let loose a bit and create unforgettable memories with your friends, old and new.

**Blue Mountain Coffee Festival - March 2**

Our Blue Mountain coffee is the best in the world and this is the perfect place to come and fully indulge your senses. Nestled in the breathtaking Blue Mountains, this festival offers an eclectic mix of coffee tastings, artisanal products, and live performances, providing a true taste of Jamaican hospitality.

**ISSA Boys and Girls Championships - March 19- 23**

Track and Field is a big part of our culture, so go and witness our future stars of athletics compete at the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships. Held annually, this prestigious event showcases the talent and dedication of young athletes vying for glory on the track and field, eager to join the ranks of our record breaking stars like Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. Join the excitement and cheer on our next generation of champions.

**Earth Hour Concert - March 23**

Join the global movement for environmental awareness at the Earth Hour Concert in Kingston. As lights dim across the city, you will be able to immerse yourself in acoustic performances that echo the harmony of nature. It's a poignant reminder of our responsibility to protect the planet for future generations.

Here are some other things you might consider doing while here:

  • Plantation Tours- Explore our colonial past with a tour of historic plantations and great houses. Learn about the island's sugar industry heritage, visit restored plantation estates, and stroll through lush gardens brimming with tropical flora. Some popular plantation tours include Rose Hall Great House in Montego Bay and Greenwood Great House in Falmouth.

  • River Tubing: Experience the thrill of river tubing down Jamaica's scenic waterways. Float along gentle rapids and through lush tropical scenery as you enjoy the natural beauty of the island. River tubing excursions often include stops for swimming, cliff jumping, and relaxation along the riverbanks, providing a refreshing and adventurous outing for visitors of all ages.

  • Reggae Music Tours: Pay homage to Jamaica's musical legacy with tours dedicated to reggae music and its iconic figures. Visit legendary recording studios like Tuff Gong Studio in Kingston, Bob Marley's former residence and museum in Nine Mile, and the Peter Tosh Museum in Kingston. Explore the roots of reggae music and the lives of its legendary pioneers through guided tours and exhibits.

  • Sunset Cruises: Set sail on a romantic sunset cruise along Jamaica's coastline for breathtaking views of the Caribbean sunset. Relax on deck with a refreshing drink in hand as you watch the sky burst into vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple. Sunset cruises often include live music, delicious hors d'oeuvres, and the opportunity to swim or snorkel in crystal-clear waters.
